With due respect the end of the stick near the wrist should only be short or 2 to 3 inches. Or else the chance that your opponent can hold on that part and disarm you is bigger. If the end is short it would be difficult for the opponent to grip that part and the chance of disarming you is hard. That 2 to 3 inches part is used to poke the eyes, head, biceps, hands during close quarters combat. So theres no need to make it 4 to 5 inches longer.
