The smart people did not listen to the traffic control officers. They broke down fences and drove over anything they had to to get to safety. And they survived the people that listen to the authorities died. I don’t see any difference with the cleanup. Tell all those people to get the F out will take care of it from here. Don’t call us. We’ll call you probably not! This experience made it painfully obvious the government is not there to save you, so quit paying them to destroy our lives! Tell them to get the F out!

No one is going to buy the property unless it's very dirt cheap, because the government now has the authority over the use of that land for smart city as had been planned before the fire. Don't know how much the government will compensate the property owners but expect to be much less than market values just before the fire. The burned areas of Lahaina were in the smart city plan all along, the fire "just happened" to burn only those areas!!!

When I started quilting, I looked at the whole task and was overwhelmed. But, I had a friend who quilted and she said just start doing one block at a time. They’re usually that way anyway, one twelve inch block at a time, and you do one, and then do the next one and so on until you have however many you need for your chosen project. And before I knew it I had enough to make a small quilt. Just clean one thing. Then rest a while. Clean a corner so you can see and smell the nice clean spot. And then do another portion. When you complete a task, you’ll feel good about it and you’ll get stronger. You can do it. And ask Jesus to help you. He cares about you. Best wishes.

Yes the current SMA (special management area) zoning regulations require setbacks far beyond the way things were with these properties that were grandfathered in. At the same time, many of the luxury waterfront homes and businesses on front street were not owned by locals so there is an attitude of not rebuilding those things the same way. Yes, they are getting pushed out the government way. Governor Greene already offered $2M per person to not go into litigation over the land. Check out Maui’s prices … they will never be able to even afford to rebuild because their property taxes are double and just that alone would take several families to live together to afford. The State needs to give them the land for the errors that the whole system did to them. Completely unacceptable so mainlanders, this is happening all over, pay close attention to all of this

What about the ACLU? Do they deal with this type of issue? I would speak with whatever kind of attorney deals with this but I do believe that that would be price gouging if they make you pay more than what the market is for rent or if you're being charged more by contractors or whatever other services are available. The insurance commissioner governs insurance policies. There should be some sort of governing Authority that is in charge of contractors. There should be a governing Authority for each type of service provided. There should also be laws against the price gouging especially in disaster situations. I would hope that there would be some sort of protection for the land owners that have lost their homes and are being forced in a position just sell their property or lose everything. Eric West with Hawaiian real estate made a post in I to the last week and he said that there were people coming attorneys and I believe Financial people to help the people of Lahaina do not be ripped off by the government or whoever the first thing they said is do not sign anything don't agree to anything pertaining to your property. I would hope that there are local attorneys tourneys abroad that would be willing to volunteer their time and expertise to help these poor people it's horrible what happened to them. There should be some protection that prevents them from being taken advantage of and for them to be compensated properly to be able to rebuild and repair and re-establish their rightful land and property.

@@StandUpMagazin My daughter who lives near Lahaina, gave me the lowdown as to what the locals think and are going through. Many of the locals are simple people who live in Hawaiian tradition. They are devastated and the 'government' is going to pay them to get out of the area most of them have lived for generations, and take over the paradise location for big investors! From what I gather, there was talk about Lahaina becoming a 'Smart City' in the near future, in the weeks before this happened... Too much coincidence and the Mayor of Lahaina is just absolutely incompetent as well as useless...!

Since when does the Army do fire cleanup? Why were they not cleaning up the Paradise fire? I would like a blank check to clean up! It is guaranteed to be very expensive! Why not put it up for bid, like the Feds did for the military in Iraq? The Army wants to clean-up their own signs of Directed Energy Weapons. Explain how vehicles standing far from any structures melt? If I were the Military, I would insist in a cover up too.
