  • The RGNT No.1 Classic se is an A1/CBT legal electric motorcycle designed to look like a classic motorcycle like Matchless. Even though it is a 125cc equivalent its performance is more like a 250cc.
The 2 big questions with this bike are, Is it any good? and is it worth that price tag?
Big thanks to English Electric Motor Co. for the loan of this machine! www.englishele...

    Some additions:
There is a gap between the grips and the "mirror-holders". You can move these towards the grips (two screws), and instantly you have a better view. Check if everything like the brakes and steering works freely after that modification. In my opinion this should be done by the dealer before delivering the bike to the customer.
The maps you have seen could be found on the older versions of the bike (Versions up to 1.6) where they did "nothing". The SE-Models (2.0) have a new dashboard and major changes in the hardware and software compared to the older bikes. RGNT has announced a new firmware for the 2nd quarter of this year, than the map should be back and showing the range on a map, and maybe navigation is included. Although informations about road conditions should be displayed (Here Technology). The Beta-versions of the new software has been displayed on some bikes at exhibitions, so hopefully RGNT is on time with delivering the new software to our bikes. The bike is prepared for new functions, e.g. there is a speaker hidden under the tank.
The QR-code in the system menu is only for pairing the bike with the app. The app is more or less useless at the moment but will hopefully be upgraded together with the implementation of the map-function.
The price: yes, it is quite high. In Germany, you could by an Alrendo for less with lousy quality, or OVAOBIKE with good quality and modern design. Or the BMW CE04, but with less range.
Indicator switch: well, I don't like it, at this price automatic indicators (as found on the NIU-Scooters) would have been a nice thing.
If someone wants a more classic style, with classic "dashboard": take a look at Crooked and their custom build based on the RGNT Scrambler.

@@spicy110 It is a pleasure for me. I really like my bike.
And I forgot to mention a major bug, and I believe it is a bug in the design that perhaps can't be fixed by software in the future. When you shut off the bike, the computer (based on a Linux-system) makes a shutdown. When you start a charge, the computer starts again and the dashboard shows the charging informations.
But if you plug in the charger during shutdown of the bike, the system might hang in the shutdown-process, and charging is not startet. The computer hangs as long as the 12V-battery under the seat has enough power (about 12 hours ...), and there is no chance of doing a reset. An alternative in this situation is to find the right fuse under the seat and pull it for a moment. RGNT has been informed by me about the bug, but I don't know if that will be fixed in the future.
It is a good idea to wait patiently a few seconds before plugging in the charge adapter to avoid the situation. Or you have to grab an allen key and a 10mm wrench for removing the seat. I have learned my lessons :-) , and since then I have successfully avoided this problem.

As mentioned in the video I did have to do a fuse pull reset. I had a software lockup with the sidestand that totally froze the bike. That was fixed with the update too.

This bike but at a used price tag is probably more enticing.

No push to cancel indicators, back brake size are two things that are surprisingly off-putting personally. Agree with the mirrors. I personally only have my right mirror on and just look around with my head most of the time too 😂

  • @Meifesto
    @Meifesto Год назад +1

I ended up getting the mirrors sitting mostly correctly.
The indicator switch I got used to it surprisingly fastly, they went for longevity above easy comfort I guess.

Wow electric bikes need to come down some to tempt me.
This looks like it will rust quite easily and i could buy a hornet and a classic 350 for the same money.
I like the look of this bike though but the price is crazy.

I've followed the vids you've done recently on this bike with interest as I'm in the market for an electric as soon as one lands on the market that fits my parameters. This one gets close but not quite. Type 2 socket is 👌but then burdening it with an apparent average 2kW charge rate gets the wah wah noise. Bit pricey. Regen doesn't sound to be good enough, but that's hard to say without riding it. The beemer ce04 comes closer to matching my requirements tbh, but still just that touch too pricey.
I'll stay as I am for the moment.
Keep up the good work with the objective reviews and general vids 👍

I’m always a bit surprised by the fact you can operate a motorcycle in the UK without mirrors 🤔. In the US the lack of at least one mirror will garner you a ticket for lack of proper equipment 😉.

I have seen better swinging arms on a pushbike, the entire bike looks cheap and nasty imo, I would pay no more than £1500 for one as long as it had a two year warranty.

    • @spicy110

I think you are missing some motorcycle knowalge there. It is trying to look like a Matchless brand motorcycle and that is the style swing arm some of them had. 👍
