- Recently, I've found myself in need of a new action camera to document an upcoming project (whenever we're allowed outside again) and I settled on the Insta 360 ONE R Twin Edition. It offers 5.7K 360° video as well as 4K flat footage.
It's also waterproof without a separate case, which is important, as the product I'll be documenting is the restoration of Govanhill Baths, an Edwardian bath house located in Glasgow, Scotland.

I also take a quick look at the Insta360 ONE R vlogging case with the cold shoe on top as well as the Type-C to 3.5mm microphone adapter for the ONE R. I'll have more tests with those coming soon!

I'm very much interested in the low-light capability of the 1 inch module for filming in the nature. Not in the complete dark, but close to dusk. I'm considering this camera for underwater filming. My only problem is that for the same price I can get a panasonic lumix LX15. Not so wide but with AF and more options and flexibility.

I had a Xiaomi Mijia360, and Workflow and Wifi download time and camera getting extremely hot durimg file transfers were a big pains which made me sell it

Normally I don't like unboxing videos but your one at least went into the details of the features. I have a one r and I found the sound quite good. I work on a ship which is fairly noisy, I was walking around with the selfie stick at arms length and I could hear myself quite clearly.
The only issue I have is starlapse, I haven't got the hang of it yet. Also like others have said it is difficult to stop the recording.
Yeah, I'm not a huge fan of unboxing videos, either, so on the rare occasions I do them, I like to show off a little more than just "here's what's in the box" to make them somewhat useful.
I did some tests over the weekend, and you're right, that internal mic is surprisingly good! I haven't tried starlapse yet, there's too much light pollution around here and getting out to dark places is difficult at the moment. But it is one of the things I'm keen to try when I can. :)
Quick question. Are you planning on any comparisons with the external microphones? I would love to hear what you recommend as an option
Yup, I'll be testing it with the Rode VideoMicro, the Purple Panda lav mic, and my Saramonic UwMic9 wireless lav kit. It won't be my next video (I have a couple of others to do first), but it's high up on my list!
I have a Nikon KeyMission 360. Its a pain having to use an app to control it. trying to connect is hit and miss and if you can't connect it you can't change settings. also the software sucks.
Yeah, I was looking forward to a big player like Nikon entering the 360° world, but their efforts were quite disappointing. I know they abandoned the KeyMission series a little while ago, but I don't know if they plan to return. I think they could potentially make something very cool, but it's Nikon, so they probably won't, haha.
Does he battery module come in different colours or is it standard red?

How did you get the case with the cold shoe?
Insta360 sent it to me along with the mic adapter to get my feedback and thoughts on them. :)

How long did it take to get yours. Mine seems to be taking a while
It took about 3 weeks to come - FedEx delivered it to the wrong address at first, hah. The microphone adapter & vlogging cage actually showed up over a week earlier than the camera. :)
