    Afternoon sir, my name is Kai and I live just outside Portland over in Aloha. I just wanted to reach out and say thank you for all the years of thoughtful, true to yourself, content that has provided myself and I am sure so many others as well by giving us hope that someone has our back. It’s been hard seeing the game I grew up playing slowly deteriorate into what it has become today. I know you’ve heard the story of so many of us who found the game as kids and fell in love but then other aspects of life may have pulled us in different directions. Well around 2015 I was in a Target and saw a pack of Shadows(?) and got the nostalgic urge to open it and see if it still had that smell so many of us remember. Well sadly it didn’t have the smell, but it did remind me how much I loved all the worlds and complexity of the game, more than anything I just remembered how I felt as a kid with that sense of wonder about to discover something unknown and then try play with my friends making up our own rules cause what did we know, we were kids after all. Anyways I won’t go on and on, but I will say a few years ago when Thrones of Eldraine was released I finally decided I had to make a stand and stop buying MtG card. The quality had fallen apart and between the ever decreasing paper quality and the foils curling to the point of unplayability and I just could support the company any more. I never stopped loving the game and have wanted to play and draft and collect so many of these awesome cards that have come out, but I can’t support Hasbro taking advantage of the amazing people that love this beautiful game. I have however kept up with the current events through channels like yours and Alpha Investments who refuse to let Hasbro destroy this beautiful game we all live so much. It has provided so many people with hope and without it I know so many would still feel like they don’t have a place to call home. It’s thanks to you and all the fearless other content creators that have been the light for those of us who had all but given up hope that the game we love could be saved, but sir I think the winds have shifted and it really does feel like things are starting to come around. I just wanted to say thank you for being there for all of us over the years, honestly from the bottom of my heart,
    Thank you.
    Kai Lodes

      This is a great idea! I got into magic because of the artwork and stayed for all the creative fun you can have while deck-building. Storytelling throughout this proces is a great aspect and differs from the 'maxing-out your deck' style of play. From blinging out a deck with as much alternative art/foils/gameday promos/buy-a-box/showcase art etc. to just making a deck with as much wings and high towers as possible or infusing a deck with a sense of Lovecraftian horror.
      I would like to know how artists perceive their creations and what hey ended up being in the game.

    Congrats on the milestone - great channel and always interesting content - as a newer MTG player, I'd like to see more videos around gameplay tips - specifically it would be helpful to see how more experienced players keep track of all the interactions (f.e. if you have multiple magecraft effects in play, examples of how to correctly apply those effects).

    Thanks for this video ^^ I've been following you for a few months now, since I came back to Magic actually, and had a great time with every video. What I'd like to see from you might be seeing you or guests building sealed decks of booster drafts decks, since these are my favorites formats, and I really enjoy discussing choices and strategies for these builds.

    I would absolutely love to see more of your deck building guides for commanders. My experiment kraj deck was based off of your video and ive been slowly improving it over the past few months. The one deck i would like to see you try to build is a Rakdos lord of riots , cause he seems pretty neat

    What a great channel that I discovered this year, thank you very much, and happy 800 000 subscribers !
    To you last question, I would really like to talk about the game, formats, game design, in a format of 20 minutes with some of your friends like Gavin Verhey; about for example a card's design, a certain set, or talk about your last hot take : why it is not sustainable for Wotc to base more of their service towards us commander fans ? I feel aknoledge, by the sheer amount of new commanders, but there is like 1 commander set every year, in the game, I do not feel like commander is the most supported format by Wotc.

  • @Butcher899
    @Butcher899 Год назад +14

    Commander being the leading format is so unhealthy for the game, i've talked about it for years with my friends. Anyway, congrats on the 800k, looking foward to the 1M video. Love your dry humor and hot takes, keep it up

      I kinda wish magic took tips from yugioh wrt to the entire standard rotation vs just having a ban list/master rule change. Like how many times do I have to rebuy the same iteration of a card just to have it be 'legal'?

    • @Valreg
      @Valreg Год назад +1

      Commander is fairly overwhelming in my book as a newer player if you are in a playgroup that has more tuned decks. You have to learn how to interact with probably 4-8 decks (from the amount of players in random pods at your FLGS) at the same time while still trying to learn yours.

    • @sf9ersfan33
      @sf9ersfan33 Год назад +1

      @@Valreg also, the experience of trying to play with randos that you'll almost definitely have to deal with can be nightmarish. People will hate the way your deck plays, and people will complain incessantly that they weren't allowed to combo off and win. People will straight up lie to you about their decks power level especially if any prizes are on the line

    I miss your Dies to Removal videos with Vince and look forward to seeing more of those. Dies to Removal is how I found Pleasant Kenobi.
    As an idea for new content, I think watching videos of you and Rhystic Studies discussing the art and artists of cards would be most enjoyable.

Your collected and calm takes that also dont lack the necessary intent, your different project from office hours to shuffle up and play and your reviews. Your range is incredible and it shows in the subscruber numbers. Also your video on magic saving your life reframed so much i thought about mtg. Magic saved your life and magic saved my life.

    Congrats on 800k! As an old player coming back it would be nice to hear the story of what I missed while I was gone. From power creep to the reserved list the story of how the game evolved and why would be great to hear. Seeing how to take that 4th edition deck and make it relevant again could be a great story. Even seeing some new players rolling back the clock and playing ice age would be a great way to highlight all that's happened.
    I love the videos and use them as a great way to remember my childhood when the game was new! Keep up the great content!

I started watching this channel long before I started playing magic the gathering and it's only served me well during these times. Also, I've found another trading card game that I very much enjoy, Nostalgix, and a lot of what you show and teach here can be applied there.
