When he said "I would never ever do this for performance" I heard screams in the distance.
This did not disappoint, in that I was prepared to be disappointed.
Idiot
Is there a Build-off in the works? C'mon Matt - you know you want to join in the fun...
Finally, a Traxxas Bronco video that doesn’t feel like an advertisement, in fact a satirical look at aftermarket parts. Love this concept 👍🏻
There are 11 dislikes. Maybe they are brass fan bois or don’t understand satire.
Hey Josh
U should drill out as many holes in the tire foam as possible and fill them with tungsten pine wood derby weights
That should break an axle or 2
I came for the brass chuckles and didn’t leave disappointed.
Niel Degrasse Tyson explains why this RC has its own gravity field
I run my TRX6 with a factory trans with a Holmes 4100KV monster of a motor and a MambaX. It will drag the rear bumper popping wheelies on pavement, does 26mph on 3S, and flies through the air like an eagle! And the stock trans holds up great! The TRX is a bulletproof platform. But back to more weight! LOL
Metall Front Battery Tray/Plate. Winch/Light/Soundmodul/Interieuer with Seats/Driver Figur, Metall Bumpers, Metall Side Rails, Roof Rack, LOVE IT
I personally like treal brass parts because they dont look flashy, they are kind of discreet and they still work amazing.
I also use brass kitchen cabinet knobs as wheel nuts. Lol it works great!!
Every Brass you take 🎶
I understand the point of exaggerating, but in my experience at least the old trx-4 defender can benefit a lot from some weight down in the axles. Not full nuts like this, but portal covers and c-hubs helped me a lot to neutralize the tendency of lifting the front of the rig. One must is harder foams, otherwise everything is a waste....
^^^Agreed... I'm pretty sure that he realizes that in moderation (like ALL things) brass can be beneficial, especially in certain situations or for certain vehicles. I have a Defender, and I'm probably going to go with the LockedUpRC TRX-4 Black Steel Portal Package that has Black Steel Portal Covers, Black Steel Portal Knuckles, Black Steel C-Hubs and Brass Pipe Bushings. I'd rather use steel, and it is going to add a fair amount up front and down very low. 245g total weight, around $120 for everything
I agree, I put 98g brass portal axle covers in the front and 40g in the rear of my TRX4 Sport and it made a night and day difference. Its all about balance and moderation.
Get it so heavy that when you hit the throttle the motor just smokes. ;- ) 23.7lbs my Guess
John Holmes is asking what colour his next motor should be, I’m thinking brass might be the right answer.
😂!!!
Locked up RC makes some great steel axle housings and other accessories that weight more than brass..
I can already hear the nerds flapping their man pleasers about how Harley did it so it's the bestest thing ever. 🤦
Wow jackpot ! I do like the Broncos, but I still like the older ones better
My TRX-6 front axle is all brassed out. I wanted to keep the stock fender wells too. Luckily, I found an aluminum panhard mount. I just dremeled out the stock plastic panhard mount to allow the aluminum one to fit. So now I still have my scale-looking wells but a rigid aluminum panhard mount.
D-links makes super heavy brass links for most platforms so that may help in your quest
Add a bomber interior with brass heads
This silliness reminds me are the original Top Gear shenanigans. Love it!
Kiss my Brass, really lol… good stuff bro 💪🏾💯
Knowing how much you hate brass parts I was laughing the whole video 🤣🤣
My life savings in brass trx 4 parts, but really im just envious, got wheels on mine and it helped but still need a little more weight down low.
Needs an big old nimh battery and it's on the outside but maybe a solid tube exo-cage.
My first crawler was a home made TLT-1 based 1/8 new bright JK with 2.2 rock crushers. I made the chassis out of that heavy 1/2" square tube from home depot and cut it down the center like c-channel. I loved how the tires would actually bark when they spun on the rocks. I think it looked the most realistic out of all my trucks performing just because of how heavy it was
Very interested in driving footage / impressions for this project.
Not the first trx4 with full brass lilt that sadly 😂
I totally used the aluminum shock mounts for a stronger panhard mount. And cut slots in the inner fenders. It was ALOT of cutting, trimming, and bracing. I like the excess. Troll away
You forgot the brass 10mm links and mounts!!! I love this video. I do enjoy running all my rigs VERY heavy. As long as the rotating mass stays light and they are powered/geared properly they're unstoppable
This is hilarioua, cant wait to see where you get to.
Nice bro! I love dumping out all the parts for a new build! Great info! I’m doing some brass but not all out.
Treal hobbies is probably the best brass that I’ve bought or seen so far
Exo-cage. You got fab skills
This is just what i plan on doing and i was in the middle of my list. But with a twist, i'll be looking for the most licensed parts to make my Bronco super scale realistic........ thanks
This is gonna be fun. Poor servos 😂😂
All those poor gears😢
Full brass rims, we had them milled this side of the world. Around 500grams per tyre. Would add a nice 2kg to the rig. I actually raced it around our offroad track the other weekend.
This is funny and a good time to watch but I can't help but think part of this is deflecting away from the fact that the trx4, while hated by many, is still a solid performer.
List of what's still needed:
-8s system with two 8000mah 4s packs
-brass links
-lead weights wrapped around the wheels
-Hardbody
Don't forget to add the heaviest & highest mAh battery you can fit in there!
and one in the front, if there isnt a winch or a big soundmodul
Hey Harley, have you thought about brazing up a set of solid brass bumpers and a brass roof rack?
Ya, seriously !!! 😆🤣
For an interior you could use a piece of MDF (particleboard) . Use 6 golf balls as a family and their dog.. using some aluminium strips to brace it in place with double-sided tape..
I love this so much. Can't wait for the next videos thanks Josh
Thought you were doing lead shot in the tires...
this is great content, always wondered what you Could do..
How much does the real Bronco weigh, and what's 1 tenth of that? You wouldn't be able to pick it up, right?
Injora makes a 2 stage foam with a red rubber inner ring, adds 77 grams to a tire assembly and supports heavy trucks man you need to put a set on especially since you used the extra wide beadlocks
You could talk to a local jewelry casting shop to talk about casting your 3d printed parts in bronze or brass. If you really want to go to the moon, start molding things like the stock sliders, inner fenders etc... Think parts that are fairly symmetrical, so you can get multiple parts cast from one mold.
After that, you should think about tungsten. Should be easier and cheaper to get than depleted uranium. 🤪
you gotta wrap those wheels with stick-on wheel weights. That'll be an extra pound at least.
I skipped the brass, took out the foams and filled my tires with aquarium sand. It works great.
@@joesmith4222 youuuu,,, are joking. Right?
"TRX 4000" for the win! You need brass link rods and steering links next. Great video.
With all the weight you could shoegoo/e6000 dry wall tape the body for better durability and more weight.
get some flex seal and 1/4oz lead weights and mount them EVERYWHERE. :) getting over 18lbs should be easy-peasy.
Dude your my new idol for this😆 it's such a bad idea but it sounds so epic
Holy brass! That thing is going to weigh 20 pounds when your done. Great video can't wait to see the final results
Please slap the Traxx and a snowplow on it once it’s done.
It might make a heck of a winter driveway-clearing monster back here in the Midwest!
Brass links wheel weights on the inner beadlock ring
an old school way from the AX-10 days for adding weight was stick on lead weights on the center wheel ring inside the tire. We used to wrap electrical tape around them after that to ensure they stayed in place. You could replace the elec tape with 3M mastic tape which is a thicker rubbery tape.
I feel a sense of weird synchronicity, I bought a set Of Aluminum and Brass Vitavon Axles for a TRX-4 (Bronco or Sport) I haven't even purchased yet. I have a special project in mind also, but not a behemoth.
Design and print some boxes to go around chasis and fill with lead lol
Now I feel crazy because my Jeep Cherokee weighs almost 20lbs LMAO but climbs like a goat LOL this is a really interesting video
nice vid! congrats for its views number! 👍👍👍
Buy some sticky wheel weights and remove the tires. Line the rims in the middle with the wheel weights equally and put the tires back over the rims with beadlocks on. For about $14 bucks for 2 set's for all 4 rim's. All my RC crawlers have aluminum rims with wheel weights. My trx4 weighs 14.0 pounds after my brass upgrade but I'm also 4s with a 130a brushless esc. I use that same transmission and I can go over 40mph so I'd say it's pretty tough lol
Lol great video, don't forget brass links. I'm sure you could get it up to 16 17 pounds pretty easy could always sneak some fishing weights in there to. If you don't need those shock mounts send them my way would work good on my sport and eliminate my body mounting issue for cliff hanger body.
Full interior, driver character, metal roof basket and camping accessories.
“Brass” has taken over the word “servo” for our Harley Drinking Game! Cheers!
Stick on automotive wheel weight to the bottom of the skid plate, did that to mine, works like a charm
Can't wait for the brass body
Running those same foams in my 14lb trx4 and they do great, plenty of tire conformation while still supporting sidewall
Rock sliders, roof rack, front battery mount, Servo Mount, 3D printed items.
I didn't know i needed this series lol
Add working lights, a fan on the motor/speed controller, and a sound box to it that will add some weight.
Brass steering link, brass 4 link front and rear. Rear steer with all the brass stuff like the front? Lead scale jerry cans, a winch? 25ish pounds final weight.
Lol! Love what you are doing and yes absolutely ridiculous but fun to watch. I'll say final weight 16lb10oz.
Keep in mind that you can have your 3d printed parts printed in metal from Shapeways
Can not wait to see it drive the few inches it can at a time!!
Awesome video! The only thing you missed was the Brass Monkey !!
Add some hidden stick-on weights inside the tires to the brass wheel clamp rings. No one will be the wiser. : )
1/10, but weighs as much as a 1:1.
I was going to mention rear axle c hub adaptors an covers but you mentioned them already, aren't there metal body post braces available as well, get Matt to build a styrene interior that you can add weight to the bottom of, an add weight the the chassis like your burnout Challenger had
Not sure if you’re still working on this project but H tech customs makes some aluminum front and rear bumpers as well as sliders and even aluminum fenders for the Bronco, kill it with weight👍😂😂😂
Use to always put weights in the wheel between rim and foams
Make some super heavy interior out with all the scale accessories for the weight!
Husky links from Club 5 RC and PROPDRIVE v2 4258 500KV Brushless Outrunner Motor from HobbyKing (i run that in mine TRX-6)
New trx4 owner and this was awesome haha ...liked and subed cheers
Maybe the best project you have done
Adding all the brass is only part of the equation. If you want to truly embrace the lifestyle you need the lift kit for sure to emphasize all your new weight. And whatever the widest most scrub inducing widening kit there is. Roof rack filled with alloy bits off Amazon would be right at home on there also. I would 3d print a kitchen sink and strap it on the rack also.
🤣
I want to see some carnage after all the brass is installed lol
This is gonna be great 👍
crazy idea and I love it. my guess for weight is 13
the metal transmission is very worth it I had the stock one get hot and ruin a bunch of bearing seats
Drinking game on the word brass.. better call 911 beforehand.. 😂😂😂
“Birch wood/Casey brass black”would help hide the brass. You heat the brass up and dab the solution on the brass and it chemically turns the brass black.
Love you could bearly keep a straight face. Especially when showing the brass driveshafts
I use actual car sticky wheel weights when I mount my wheels and tires. I use 2 ounces/wheel going around the ring. It adds weight, and you can't even see them.
Truck pulls man the truck pulls
Put you some liquid gravity in plastic structure ribs and fill the bumpers up with it as well...put everywhere there is a void...lol
That's Brass-tastic!
I love this idea!
Brass hitch nuts 🤣
I like the YR alloy axle housing. Mine fit perfectly and they are way stronger than plastic.
I figured out how to add weight on the cheap using the space under the rear body post between shock towers there’s two holes right behind battery holder I made a tray i just screwed into those holes and put two old 9 volt batteries I taped together and strapped into tray so the weight is slightly over behind rear axle just enough that it doesn’t want to wheelie when it’s climbing a steep hill and too front I stuck Velcro on steering servo and put an old servo on it just enough so it doesn’t interfere with steering or body and I noticed big difference in it’s ability to climb why spend money on cool parts when u can use stuff u find around house
That is great project 👍👏😎 great and heavy, niiicee
Great idea for a very interesting video THANKYOU SIR 🇬🇧🇺🇸💯✊
A nice full brass skid plate would add some good weight
