  • In 1967 the era of the Original Six came to a close when the league doubled in size from six to twelve teams. This first expansion class would open the doors that have led to the 30-team NHL that we know today.
Today we are going to look at the second of the two Expansion Six clubs to hit the west coast; the Los Angeles Kings.
    Editor's Note
Next episode will be delayed an extra week due to the Thanksgiving holiday.

Always loved the Kings' uniforms. The gold home uni's and the road purple. Hated when they went silver and black.

Longtime Kings fan myself (native Californian, born in Panorama City, CA in 1966 and raised in Northridge and Sepulveda, and got into the Kings in 1975 at 9 years old) and a former season ticket holder at The Fabulous Forum from 1977-87, and still cheer them on today from my home here in Port Townsend, WA, in which we moved to in 1987, Always proudly wore one of my two Rogie Vachon jerseys to every game (youth L and Adult XL), and was proud to don the Gold and Forum Blue then and still even today!!! GO KINGS GO!!!

a video about hockey in San Diego would be great, as we had the pchl champions in 1946-47, and the gulls in the whl, with Willie o ree, the mariners in the wha,the hawks in the phl,the gulls again in the ihl, wchl, with 5 Taylor cups, the echl, and finally the ahl as Anaheim affiliate team.

Jack Kent Cooke got mad that a competing group with connections to the Sports Arena was up against him for the franchise saying "I'm going to build my own Forum.' He also thought with a couple of million Canadians in LA he have a gold mine at the box office. When he sold the team Cooke said, I know why those Canadians moved here, to get away from Hockey!"
Last Cooke story was when Abe Pollin successfully got a NHL expansion t team for Washington, he talked to Cooke who wanted to buy the Redskins to get a good word for Pollin, and how the Washington Capitals got started.

In 80-81 the kings were not swept by the rangers...it was 3 games to 1...kings won a fight filled game 4-1 at the forum before getting stomped at the garden
