    This video couldn't have come at a better time. I've been struggling to overcome my arm dominant golf swing in the downswing sequence. Personally, it's one of the biggest culprits that's causing chicken-wing in the follow through, and stalling in the hip rotation.

    Figured this out myself after watching Hogan's video on the Ed Sullivan show...the lower body starts the downswing..that is the magic move. What he is telling you is the correct move in golf. Let the club float at the top of the backswing. Well done 👍

    I feel like you were talking directly to me. Rain today, can't wait to try these drills tomorrow. Great content, love the short and concise videos. Easy to rewatch at the range.

    Wow! One of the very best golf videos on RUclips (and I've watched hundreds of them)! I played at the AF Academy today and beat my age by four strokes (I'm 84) making sure that my hands didn't move from the top of the backswing until my turning hips pulled them down into the slot. When I play again the day after tomorrow I'll try incorporating a conscious pause at the top to see if I can do even better. Thanks for a wonderful video!

    One of my best rounds ever, this was the feel I was getting in my swing. I tried to duplicate it the next time on the course and couldn’t. Maybe these drills can help find that feeling again. I can only hope!

    Great drill. I really like your backyard set up as well. Do a video on what it is and how much it Cost?

    The pause drill for me would be a great one to try as sometimes I can get quite quick in transition and almost feel like I start the downswing before I have finished the backswing. I find slowing down my backswing helps me with this too. Thanks for the reminder / tips!👍

      You can start the downswing before finishing the backswing if you start with the legs/body, not the arms.

    • @johnnycasswell7290
      @johnnycasswell7290 Год назад

      @@warrenwhite9085 Yeah, get what you mean. I just sometimes come back down with the arms too soon / quickly so that pause / feel helps me.

    I love the pause at the top routine. Someone else had mentioned doing the same drill for chip shots, and it worked really well to engage my body in the swing and take the focus away from my arms dominating the tempo. Great advice - will definitely be putting it into practice.
    The last segment of the video, pushing the arms in the opposite direction, does make me worry if that creates tension? Or does it accomplish pausing the arms and preventing the rush?

    Another very good and concise, and nicely presented swing tip. The very reason your followers have quadrupled in barely six months. Keep'em coming bro. Hope you don't mind I often use them in my lessons.

    Will rushing cause you to come over the top? I’ve noticed at the range when I’m more relaxed I hit it much better. I feel like I let the club drop.

    Ok so i am now totally confused, two weeks ago your tip was to keep the chest facing away from the tareget for as long as possible so that the arms come down first . Now it is keep your hands back. Sorry what am i missing ? How should i start the down swing?

    • @jchowngolf
      @jchowngolf  Год назад

      That tip is a feel for players who swing over the top with over active upper body rotation. So that tip should only be done by players struggling with an over the top downswing via excessive upper body rotation. This is for players rushing their downswing in general 👍🏼

    Leaving the arms up is swing cancer for people with fast hip rotation. Beware dogmatic statements by online golf instructors!!!

    • @jchowngolf
      @jchowngolf  Год назад

      If you struggle with fast hips, then working on your hip sequencing will be the first port of action. You still shouldn’t get your arms stuck doing this even with fast hips. You only will if you have terrible management of tilts and rates of torso rotation.
