I looked everwhere for the name of the algae that naturally grows in sea monkey tanks so I could buy culture to farm some for my new tank. Couldn't find an answer anywhere! I kept coming up with "Spirulina" which is what we give them but not what grows naturally in their tanks. Literally 20 seconds into this video I get my answer. nannochloropsis oculata! Thank you.

question: i have 3 standard size 10oz aquariums (to be specific to feed random curiiocity its a magiquarium and a pirate gold NEW TANK MARS) how much do i feed them? and how do i tell when the alage is concentrated enough? and how big of a algae container should i use (are those 50ml flasks enough for 2 tanks) and doesn't that salt from the algae water eventually add up? how often? i know for growth food packet #3 its once a week!

Your video was informative as always. I have a question for you. Can you grow nanno in water with a lower salinity? I can't seem to grow algae in my sea monkey tank so I thought I would do a culture but don't want to shock my monkeys with the higher salinity algae.

Nanno can grow in quite a range of salinities so it would be worth a go.

    Great video!
My favourite algae is Tetraselmis 🙃.
It's even better for raising Artemia according to published studies done for aquaculture.
