The Celviano series is amazing. I owned the AP70, then upgraded through the two models and am now getting the Hybrid Grand. I was shocked that touch wise it holds its ground, even when played next to its big name competitors. In fact, I'd argue that none in the same price range can really match it.
I was searching for this quote after seeing it in the Adam Curtis documentary "It Felt Like a Kiss" and your reply was the top (and possibly only) relevant google result lol...it was made in regard to the World Trade Center towers, which had at the time of the quote not yet been built, and which Mailer thought would disrupt the New York skyline as "two enormous fangs"
I have ap-470 and my friends sister has got Yamaha YDP -164 If anyone doesn't know which one to choose, the Yamaha has better keyboard, the keys feel better Casio has better sound though, but you could get used to the one in 164
@@MrDGladiator its not bad, it is good but yamahas is better dont take looks into the consideration, it really does not matter trust me, it wears off The better thing about the casio is the sound,as the lid opens and the sound is alot richer and better that way I would recommend getting the yamaha, though if you want to get the casio you will still be satisfied
have owned it for year. Very good instrument but if you play a lot with headphones be sure to test multiple ones to find which has best tone for piano. Not good music headphones make good piano headphones
Doesn't really sound much different than the Clavinova that costs $1000 more. But what's with the apps stuff? Isn't that stuff on the box off to the left?
I played the two pianos in the store. The sound sample of 470 is much more emotional. The string resonance is better also. And the design is really elegant, especially the white version. It comes with an adjustable bench out-of-the-box. If you own an AP-460, it's not necessary to upgrade to 470. But if you move from Privia or the aged Celviano pianos, this is the best choice in its range. The most significant opponent is Roland RP-302. You can compare them by yourself!
Thank you for the video.Unfortunately I can 't decide which one to buy: Casio ap 470 or Yamaha ydp 144. If there is anyone who had an experience with this two Pianos, I'm open for suggestions..
I once was told that the Yamaha ydp 144 had only two sensors in each note, while the casio had 3. That was a deal breaker for me. 3 sensors make rapidly repeated notes more natural
When you press the keys soft to hard do they all just sound like the same sound soft to hard or is there dynamic differences with each press of the key?
I am reposting this as i myself nearly pulled the trigger on one of these from Sweetwater..but the other day i tested one in person and i am SO glad i didn't. The key action was light and felt cheap, the default piano sounds uninspiring, and no bluetooth..just a combination of factors just made the experience of playing it a bit of a drag. But this is a piano that really should be avoided if your someone who has previously played on a range of quality pianos but still wants an immersive digital piano experience. If money is limited for only $200-300 more you could get the Korg G1 Air which has a more premium watt speaker system , an arguably better key action, and bluetooth. Plus it looks sleek as hell.
Hard to find much comparative information. AP-470 is a newer release, and belongs to the higher end Celviano line, replacing the AP460 - doesn't seem that might higher end considering the price difference between PX and AP. Looks like the piano sounds and other features are pretty much the same, hammer action is the same, but the AP-470 is a more traditional cabinet with actual lid for sound dynamics (PX870 only has digital lid effects). PX870 takes up less space and less weight. Where I am located, the AP470 is only $25 more than the PX870, so I'm thinking there are bare minimum differences between the two apart from cosmetic. Since the AP470 is more traditional and elegant (IMO), and released in 2018 (vs 2017 for the PX870), I figured for almost the same price I'd opt for it over the PX870. Getting mine next week.
Can anyone help deciding between AP470 and the Yamaha CLP625? I know they're in a different price range but I'm blown away by both, however the Casio has a slightly worse reputation than the famous Yamaha. The CLP sounds a bit more realistic as well.
László Marosi take Yamaha. I have casio and its very good. Just played clp645 today at music store. There is not huge difference at start but when playing 1year you start to notice the difference. And if price is not an issue go direct to Yamaha

We gotta find the answer soon. As much as the research I've done, kawai has a better touch and control on the instrument is better, maybe the best for the range. ap 470 has a lot better speaker system. Its app is good. While its touch is much worse than kdp110, they say keyboard wears off quickly and makes some noise. Its really difficult to answer. Ap470 is nearly midrange for entry level price. And kdp has a legendary acustic like feel.
I feel like the kdp is a much better overall compromise in terms of feel and sound. Just feels more comfortable to play on, though not at comfy as the cn39

This is a problem, that's why AP470 was worst choice in my life. I tried 2 days - all options, we can do nothing - great feeling and look but sound is so horrible. I sad to say it but definitely Yamaha or others will be best option than any Casio product (if we talk about sound, because as I said before, feeling and look are great).
These Casio ap470 pianos are no good. Mine stopped working 9 months after I purchased it. I bought it from Sweetwater. They told me that I would have to pay to ship it back to them. I can not afford to ship it back so I am stuck with a piece of junk. Don't buy one.
