Speedy, nippy, energetic, action oriented, fighting sequences are likely. Like rushing rapids.
Faster head bobbing.
Heavy Metal:
Rhythmic, methodical, takes it time,
slow & steady, what's your rush, sets a scene, tells a story.
Like a steady river & stready, sure of it's course. Even paced head bobbing.

I listen to classic/heavy, power, symphonic (really into nightwish atm), pirate, and some folk. Typically once the lyrics mostly focus on growl/scream, that's when I'm out, but there really isn't any such thing as a bad metal genre imho

Speed metal and power metal are very simular genres, bands like Accept, Anvil and Helloween in '80s were called both power metal and speed metal.
They don't count, Dragonforce, it looks like speed metal with little sharp noises

Dragonforce and Hammerfall fucking suck, Gloryhammer is a parody band. Powerwolf and Sabaton are the only two decent power metal bands you listed. Blind Guardian was covered, but they should have added Iced Earth, Unleash the Archers and Brothers of Metal.

The way I've always describe the difference between the two to my non metal friends is that heavy meatal is generally slow, hard punches while power metal is more of an adrenaline rush of seeing how many times you can land a hit in a short amount of time

Really all Metal Genres from about 78-95 are to similar to compare.
The extreme ends of "Hair" Metal and Thrash Metal still use the same song structures along with every other Metal genre inbetween. You can expect alternating riffs, solos, singing, intros and outros with various levels of aggression.
In fact most 80s Metal bands would have a "Hair"/"Pop"/"Radio Single"/"Light" Metal, Heavy, Thrash, and Power Metal, and Power Ballad track on each album.

This is very heavy power metal to, not something fast and fluffy like Sonata Arctica.
My point is that "heavy metal" is not a separate genre of metal, "heavy metal" is the generic term for all of it. It just got shortened to "metal" at some point, but the full name of the general type of music is "heavy metal" -- that includes death metal, doom metal, folk metal, power metal, etc.

А если ещё не дай бог, сунешься в перевод... Не закономерность, но много раз замечал, чем хуже поёт - хрипит/вопит/надрывается - тем хреновее текст, ни темы в нём, ни смысла. Да по-моему и не в переводе - некоторые наши тоже подобным страдают. Нет, я понимаю, есть интересные голоса/тембры/манеры исполнения, но! их мало, они не стараются кому-то подражать, у них интересные тексты (ИМХО, важно, когда не написанный на заказ пропагандистский лозунг, а пропущенная через своё естество мысль; не графоман, а поэт). Таких слушать приятно, таких читаешь в переводе и понимаешь, что это интересно, а когда очередной горлодёрик.... Сколько их таких во всех стилях было, и даже тех, кто с большими деньгами (Алсу) или раскрученые на спор (Сташевский)... Закончились деньги, выигран спор и о них забыли. Жуки, Танцы минус, прочие не пойми кто, имя им легион... Как говорится, новинок много, старинок мало
