      @@Lovi07 there are specific type of videos that content creaters on youtube know that will get more views and publicity due to the way the yotube algorithem works. Videos similar to this will be on the recommended bar next to videos you watch more often, which means they are "prefered" by the youtube algorithem. Hopefully i made it more clear =)

      100% agree! He's NEVER gotten the credit he deserves! He's written SOOOOOOOO MANY incredible guitar riffs and, for whatever reason, no one seems to recognize it! Dig, The Warmth, Drive, Mexico, Crowded Elevator, Circles, Consequence, Just a Phase (so beautiful and unique), and so many more! It would be easier to name the songs that aren't amazing on guitar! He uses effects in super interesting ways too! He is, in my opinion, one of the most creative writers of the 90s and 2000s!

      well these are licks and not riffs. And there are tons of better Floyd riffs. Like Young lust, keep talking, Fearless, Learning to Fly and In The Flesh are probably their best riffs. I mean the pigs one is barely a riff. They're just playing chords really.

    That lick from "the metal" is so quintessential rock riffs on the neck I actually questioned if it already basically existed. That they made a unique sounding riff in such a over played place on the neck delights me.
    Yes it's all been played before. But that they found a totally unique sounding riff that screams "tenacious d" makes me wanna play and find the next great quintessential rock riff

    Back in my late teens, when I was still playing guitar on a regular basis, my drummer buddy and I used to jam "The Metal" all the time. It's just one of those songs that never failed to get people riled up, like the "Mario Bros. Theme" or the King of the Hill intro song. Absolutely legendary.

    The Metal is in drop D, isn't it? So the E power chord is just barring the second fret. That's how I've always played it, especially since the outro is definitely in drop D.

    Totally agree, and so cool that you included the Tenacious D - I immediately learned that riff upon the 1st listen as a true member of the cult- possibly one of the first members. Your taste and shred ability are at the top of my list 🎟

      chris johnson that was the first Incubus song I learned. Some of those chords are tough but it helped with my finger strength

    Nice to see Mike and Sick Sad Little World getting the recognition they deserve! That song IS a masterpiece. And the Alive at Red Rocks 2004 version is possibly even better.

    Legendary licks out of your comfort zone. You do alot of rock and blues. How about jazz, county, Keith Urban, etc.
    Legendary licks on other instruments converted to guitar. So find fiddle licks or dobro or even drum or mandolin and play them on guitar. BANJO

    Legendary licks by Hillel Slovak. I feel that he was really good at making very simple riffs/licks sound just as cool as the more complicated things he'd play.

Imagine if a song was made and all it was, was someone picking each string of the guitar going from lowest to highest then back down repeating. Would you consider that to be in the same league as RHCP or Metallica?

    I just started learning that Aerosmith riff a few days ago. It really is chuggin' awesome when you start to get it down cleanly! And the Incubus riff. They were the first band I really loved and spent so many hours playing Make Yourself and Morning View (and SCIENCE). Had a big influence on my playing. :)
