As someone who survived a direct hit from Ian.. my god my prayers are with everyone in the path of this storm. Leave! Do not stay. Evacuate. It’s not worth it. I’ve been through dozens of hurricane. Stayed for most. I will never stay again.

As a Floridian who sustained a direct hit from Ian… those winds are insane. It’s like a tornado, but sustained for hours. It was unreal.

We’re on the island east of surfside beach and we’re blessed we sustained only minimum damage. Centerpoint iTNMP and Entergy are also assisting in getting power restored. Prayers for everyone. 🙏🩷
Great report on conditions and perils. People must heed advisories and never test the elements.
They got lucky that it didn’t rapidly intensify if it hit the size of say Ian Houston would pretty much be completely destroyed like Carricou yet when you say that they jump down your throat and call you heartless among other things.
The media are mad that Beryl wasn't all that they were hoping fall.
When NOAA predicted that the Cat4 hurricane would be reduced to Cat2 before hitting land you could see the Chicken Little journalists become dissapointed.
They thrive on mass casualtis and damage.
Nowhere and at no time did the NHC predict that Beryl would be a Category 4 at landfall in Texas. And before its time in the GOM, all it did was overperform. There was no cause to be dissapointed.

Yep. Every weather broadcaster on every station blows it up as the armegeddon. It's not "news" unless it's bad. Been that way for years. At least all the "news" stations never lose power, and have huge generators to keep the negative "news" spinning to those that can access the "news".
