I was 8 years old when I heard a car coming up the driveway I looked out my bedroom window and saw my Dad was getting out of a brand new Wimbelton White 61 Galaxie (hard top 352 FE cruisematic) with the sticker still on the window. He had left after supper in a 56 orange and white 312 fairlane that he had ordered new in 56. I knew he had a friend that was a new car salesman at Courtesy motors in Chicago, He used to let me play in all the showroom cars and I would get to pick out a plastic promotional model every year to keep. (usually a T-bird) . Any how after he soothed things over with my Mom for this spur of the moment decision we kept that car long enough for me to take my driving test in it and it became my Moms after My Dad got the 65 T bird that he ordered. I love the look of the 61 Starliner and remember when they were Nascar stock cars. I presently have a 312 Y block in a Century runabout and am very familiar with them. They kind of have a cult following I would use that engine but put a manual transmission behind it and get the car drivable as a period correct hot rod. Drive it and have some fun . Dont take forever to try and make it showroom perfect . Im 70 and I know whats involved theres alot of sheet metal there . I am finishing up a Nash Metropolitan at the present PS I have the factory shop manual for the 61 if you need info. Best Wishes

Who cares if it's the two ninety two y block card. There are not a lot of them around anymore and if you can find one they need to be restored. I have an old saying old cars have a soul and a story to tell. Every car is restorable. It depends on how much money a person is willing to invest on the restoration.

There should be a law before anyone can post a video they should have to take a class on how to operate/film using a camera. So they don't make the viewing audience sea sick. I am not a camera operator but I have viewed and listened long enough to know there is a movement/motion feature on most recording equipment that minimizes that shaky movement captured on the recording.

It looks good wet. Id clear gloss coat over the whole deal. Keep original..service it. Drive as is. I half like the wheels. But maybe screw some caps to them.. That would work.. get the misses to make some seat covers. I think it would make a great local cruiser..or cheap car for somebody that wants to get into cruising. Maybe a bit of welding.. Nice looking car.. i wouldn't put no money into it.. Good luck..

old fart ret., mech., here, had a couple over time, put a 390 in her w/a Borg T-10 behind her w/a 9" which might be what you have in it now. redid many basket cases over time worse than that. take some work but well worth the effort when done. maybe a 429 ? still have the brightwork for that year starliner'. folks get frustrated then they sit...get ur done.
