Go for 5III. It's totally great but the downside is the camera it's not the same as 5IV telephoto optical zoom lense. But if you love close shot photography, gaming & great performance, 5III is the best to go buddy. I'm using it right now. The price drop last month. Might take a look and check the price in your country. Forgot to mention overheat here is pretty minimal if you play games on very long hour especially on heavy games. Battery life is the best as the stamina mode always impress me when I'm low in battery. The compact size is the same as 5IV

Sony Xperia 5 IV vs Asus Zenfone 9? I pre-ordered the Asus but I'm considering getting the Sony instead but I'm worried about the overheating issues..

I'm a Sony fan! But, because of the cooking 🍳 processor 8 gen 1.... My advice is go with the SD 8+ gen 1! Or... Wait like me another year to get a good Sony phone! Cheers.

both good choice... both on my shortlist too... but i am more inclined towards 5 iv as it has wireless charging (not a deal breaker not to have but i already have it on my routine), image quality is better, imo, on xperia... zenfone9 is too processed for my taste (aggressive sharpening that even pixel and samsung has tone down and a lot of chinese phones too)...
overheating, check out somegadgetguy as he has some explanations why, so that if the use case does not concern you, heating issue will also be of less concern...

The only thing that i don't like about the phone is that you can shoot in 4k but the phone only has a 1080p display so you have to connect it to a pc/laptop with 4k support

Since Sony is still following the 6-month release cycle, the least they could've done to the 5 IV is give it a QS 8 Gen 1+ processor to make it more reasonable for consumers to buy this instead of the Q1 released phones. Such incremental upgrade over its predecessor but still a promising device.

Nah it was in the works before the SD8+G1 was out. Sony probably won't do away with ditching the SD8G1 just because of the issues. At least they're still powerful.

@@robertllobrerajr. Sony is no longer following the 6 month cycle, they stopped it since Xperia 1. Xperia 5 series is not an upgrade to Xperia 1 series, it's basically a compact/vanilla version of the 1 series. But yes you're right, they still should've given it the 8+ Gen1 chip, specially considering the heating issues of 8 Gen1 or at least should've added a new cooling system like Samsung to solve the heating issue. But it's Sony, they never learn.

The thermal engine sucks, there is no heat pipe, it gets hot easily and the main features turn off when the smartphone is hot. What's more, when you take pictures or play games outdoors in tropical countries, it's easy to overheat, the main feature is off. It's expensive but it's a problem, strangely all Xperia's are experiencing the same thing and no solution till now. Sad

that always comes out when video pro app is opened even when it is not warm... it is just a "beforehand" warning... i sideloaded an older version for my 1 ii... and i was able to create a reunboxing video without inconsistency on video fps... i guess they should have remove that warning as, honestly, it causes panic, like everytime... anyway, you can check the "do not show this message next time" and viola! no warning... as for video pro app on 5 iv, it does gets warm but not that early as booting the app... it is also on gsmarena review and that of somegadgetguy on youtube, he compared it to other camera phones...
