As a frequent Takealot Customer. I do appreciate their policy, because I have been screwed by shops who out right refuse to refund after a very clear defective / damaged product right out of the box. I do understand a lot of people abuse this system and that sucks. I really do hope that these people are in the minority, because having this sort of freedom when it comes to buying goods is a blessing. It makes me happy hearing that businesses appreciate it when you try and put everything back nicely because I always spend a good amount of time cleaning the item and trying my very best to make it brand new. Even trying to put the plastic protecting back on as good as possible xD I always thought no one appreciates this and I'm doing all this effort for the item to probably just be thrown away, but now it makes me happy hearing that it does go noticed. I genuinely didn't know it was such a headache. I've, unfortunately, had to use the return policy very liberally the past few months. For variety of reasons. I assumed that since they have stock in their warehouses items that are still fine would just be quality checked and put back in the line. At the very least as an unboxed deal. I've of course made sure everything has been packaged neatly, all the compartments work, it looks good as new. I just wanted to thank you for this video. It's been a real eye opener, I have been really naive. Best of luck to your business!

Yes, aucor cape town used to get a few pallets of stuff every week from laptops to iPhones to pots and pans. Was a good way to buy and sell back in the day. Probably still is
Recently returned a sound card, that wasn't performing as expected, had a heap of issues (but wasn't technically broken), and for the first time ever after having used Takealot for years they rejected the return, due to having basically used the thing, said "Seal is broken", keep in mind the seal they are referring to is a piece of tape that keeps the anti-static bag closed. "Hassle-Free Exchanges & Returns for 30 Days." My @$$.

I can return the stock to my suppliers for credit, but the problem is, Im not getting my stock back. I get the pathetic backlog excuse for months now. I cant just write off R80 000 worth of stock. There's just no way to get someone who can assist me. What can I do? I have tried all the available channels but still I get no response or removal orders.
Can you ask for them to just fix it and return it, and charge you if necessary. Most of the time you can't get people who can fix your gadget, and the only option is to return it to the manufacturer. Sometimes not for liberal reasons, just because you want it fixed by the people who made it and know what they are doing. Why is there no option like that at takealot?
Do they scan the barcodes to check if it's the same product you bought from them?coz it might happen that you did buy from them then when it arrives someone sends you a similar product as a gift so if a customer returns the gift instead of the original product even though they are the same, still sealed will they notice?
No they won't notice if the products are swopped, if it's a expensive item it will may a serial number and then would be spotted. Otherwise, the vendor might eventually notice and file a complaint with takealot to refund.
Yes, when the courier arrives just tell him you've changed your mind. You'll then get an sms saying they were unable to collect and that it's rescheduled but if you check your emails then you should have received one stating that the return has been canceled.
Hi Andrew, What happens if you have items in stock at JHB DC only, and you get an order in Cape Town, does Takealot ship it to their Cape town DC or do you have to arrange shipping to get it from their JHB DC to their CPT DC?
I had a return today on a 6k router where the client had taken the router out, replaced it back with a bag of peanuts... 6k down the drain for me. Takealot needs to look after their sellers with this BS returns system.
I honestly feel so sorry for you guys! But from a consumer perspective a lot of the sellers on TA send you whatever version of the product they see fit... My brother ordered the same product but received an item with a completely different display. Similarly, the IP cams I purchased were advertised as Cloudcam or YCC365 cams but they sent me the cr@ppier Eyesee ones instead
Still FAR FAR better than ordering off A1i3xp3$$ or B@ng00d but sellers really should pay more attention to the products they're selling and stop taking these types of chances, not every consumer is a dom consumer
I agree, it drove sales. But does cause us to raise prices to cover things like this. One or two customers making it a bad experience for all the customers.

Amazon in UK sell returns pallets and people make great profit from selling on the products. That's what brought me to your video.

Surely you can just do a warranty claim to the original manufacturer? I realise that's not always the case but for an appliance it should be.

Hey the majority of items need to be in stock at both centers. If it's not part of the majority then they will do that
