"Day-o day-o, mombajee ai-o” in Swahili is a loose translation for “Don’t Look Any Further”. For the record, Seidah Garrett, the singer who accompanied him on this song, is the same person who wrote "The Man in the Mirror" for Michael Jackson!
The song is phenomenal but the video leaves a lot to be desired! This was a huge hit and the basis of Eric B & Rakim's hit "Paid in Full" as well as several other popular rap songs. The voices of The Temptations were David Ruffin, Eddie Kendricks. Paul Williams (listen to the live versions of "For Once In My Life", "I've Gotta Be Me" or "Don't Look Back"), Dennis Edwards and Ali 'Ollie' Woodsen. The term originated from the fact that The Temptations originated from the merging of The Primes (which featured Eddie and Paul) and The Distants (which featured Otis Williams, Melvin Franklin and the man David Ruffin replaced who never sang lead on any song). The point was "the voices" of The Classic Temptations came from David Ruffin and the members of The Primes - not Otis Williams and his Distants (though Richard Street was also a member).
