2 boardwipes in 2 consecutive turns to kill a total of 3 creatures was just spiteful and a mana value loss of negative three mana. It seems like these two have some bad history from previous games if I had to guess.
@@jacklenackle5985 agreed. He just seemed like he was so eager to keep boards clean in the early game and shocker he ran out of interaction and had to beg to keep his Planeswalker alive. Very poorly played overall by him. Having even one of those wipes with ugin and Nicol bolas would've been huge
i can't tell if trevor and ryan just hated frank or they really thought he was a threat with 1 land and 2 mana dorks on turn 4 and 3 lands on turn 8 the 2 board wipes that specifically only hit frank's creatures seemed almost spiteful

thanks for explaining the vadrok combo. didn't get it before, is a cool one. also inevitable betrayal is awesome in a vadrok deck, as i rootha. harrys decks always look cool.
WOW. i really liked that vadrok deck, especially the interaction with inevitable betrayal and the split second cards being played. probably gonna pick one up for paper magic thanks MTGMUDDSTAH! ❤️
Made a beautiful first strike tribal deck with him and it's really fun even tho there's only two creatures I can mutate on to get back first strike and other synergies.
Andrew, I really like that you show "rule zero" games because, for me, it normalizes it. I've never built a "rule zero deck" because I assume that people wouldn't want to play with me because it's "illegal." I think videos like these showcase how you can have the rule zero conversation and still have a great time. Bravo!
My playgroup started a house rule where you can choose to place a card on the bottom of your library from your starting hand to search out a basic land. It's honestly helped to limit the amount of games where people don't get to play because of mana screws.
I really enjoys your videos. I've learned so much. I'd really love to see a video of Ilharg vs. Olivia Crimson bride vs. Kaalia vs. Obeka. Would be a very interesting game lol.
Is Vadrok actually able to cast the suspend cards like Sol Talisman or Inevitable Betrayal from the yard? Vadrok says that you can cast a noncreature spell with CMC 3 or less without paying the cost whenever he mutates. But, suspend cards like Inevitable Betrayal don’t have a cost at all, which would mean it can’t be paid, right?
A card without a mana cost has a CMC (or mana value) of 0. While you can't normally cast something without a cost, an ability like Vadrok's that lets you cast something without paying its cost is a type of alternate casting cost, which gets around that. (This also means you can't use Vadrok or a similar effect to cast, say, an overloaded Cyclonic Rift, since overload is also an alternate cost and when there are two or more possible casting costs you can only use one of them.)
not that it mattered because he had infinite triggers either way, but he couldn't cast lightning bolt multiple times per stack right? since Vadrok casts the actual spell instead of a copy, when it leaves the GY and enters the stack as it's cast, the second trigger can't grab that lightning bolt because that's now a "different" bolt. like flickering a creature to dodge a targeted removal.
I'm here to see if Trevor's nicol Bolas deck will go off, so far its either been on a position of being too safe or he hasn't drawing into not strong enough gas to push for wins, if I remember correctly.
Andrew didn't really explain it, but I figured it out. Harry is casting Peregrine Drake, mutating Vadrok onto it, using the mutate trigger to cast Cackling Counterpart and make a copy of the Drake/Vadrok, then returning it to his hand with Sanctum of Eternity. This gets him two Drake triggers each time, one of which has to untap the Sanctum, so the other 9 untaps can generate 13 mana thanks to the two bouncelands each untapping twice. This nets him two mana each loop, so after repeating enough times, he can switch to casting Lightning Bolt with the mutate triggers instead. (He can also make an arbitrary number of 2/2 flyers by putting Vadrok on the bottom of the pile if he wants.)
@@NMS127 the part that threw me off was that Andrew mentioned that the copied peregrine drake has the mutate text on it which is irrelevant to the combo
Kinda called that Vadrok was going to do some sneaky shenanigans, I was just curious how he was going to get past that Tormod's crypt. I've lost to Vadrok combos before and knew he had too many good cards in his grave
The counterclockwise turn order confuses the hell out of me

Instant click when I saw Brothers Yamazaki. Ryan is a man of culture
I had not even noticed before now that Vadrok doesn't exile the spell it casts.
Oh yes. Vadrok is amazing.
I just realized it's "noncreature" spells, not just instant/sorcery.
Yeah I know!!! It's so crazy broken imo! lol
Am I the only one who thought Trevor was way to trigger happy with his boardwipes? Like crux of fate to kill one creature?
Yep
Yeah Damnation to kill Bird of Paradise and Llanowar Elves seemed a bit excessive

My friend drafts brothers Yamazaki every time he pops up in our cube; it's like a running joke. I'll have to send him this game.
This was a really awesome Commander game, Harry and Trevor had some really great lines - especially that Port of Karfell play was really neat !
Brothers AND Skred, this man is exemplary!
I can't be the only one who thinks Trevor plays like and ultra Chad right?
"which will kill the table indefinitely"
Jesus, that's a really high stakes EDH game they are playing.
Harry demonstrating how Mutate modifiers occur on layer 1 shows his mastery of Magic rules. Hats off to him.
I'd love to see more Rule 0 games! The Nephilim would be interesting to see.
I love seeing rule 0 in action
Frank casting Valakut Awakening to draw 6 and only finding a sol ring is brutal, especially after all that time now drawing any lands.
Necropotence doesn't put any exiled cards to hand until the beginning of YOUR next end step, not each end step.
Yep. When did I make the mistake?
Did Trevor ever activate Necro outside of his first or second main?
