So, I am a short fantasy writer and the fantasy I write is low and sorta beginner fantasy, it’s the first one in a series, the first one is called “The Blooming Lotus” it’s adult, easy language and only has eight chapters but due to the printing size is looks thicker then looks. I’m working on the second one right now, I’ve been loving your videos by the way. I wanted to recommend it since you said you wanted to get into more fantasy, it focuses on characters and there is a plot, some romance as well.

Can’t wait to hear your thoughts on First Day of Spring! I gave it five stars. To me it felt like a case study exploring personality disorders as much as a discussion of nature vs. nurture. And it had depth and grit similar to Saving Noah, or We Need to Talk About Kevin. I suspect you will have opinions, one way or the other. 👀❤️

Agreed the Bodyguard drove me nuts. No one on book tube has talked about this! I mean she’s a freaking bodyguard and is scared of everything and needs this man to get her out of everything…like she’s afraid of a COW?!?? I wish her character was a little more fearless, it didn’t fit with her job description!
The plot of a group of people in an isolated location being picked off by a killer because of something in their past has to be the most overused trope in thrillers right now. Every other one that comes out is doing it. In most of them, you can't understand why these people even want to go travelling somewhere together.

trust me, LMP is soooo much better than the housemaid 😭 the imagery and characterization feel so much more full and detailed
Same here! Last night I was trying to choose between 3 books for my next read and The Next Mrs. Parrish was one of the options, but I also read The Housemaid. When I read it, I didn't know it was basically a rip-off of another book and I'm annoyed because if I had known that I would have just read The Last Mrs. Parrish instead. I still want to read it but idk if I want to read the same plot all over again. and apparently Frieda McFadden's books are pretty much identical to the books she is copying so yea it just feels redundant to read The Last Mrs. Parrish now. I chose another book for now- None Of This Is True by Lisa Jewell. Hopefully it's good, maybe I'll revisit The Last Mrs. Parrish another time.

I read The Next Mrs Parish in march too and was very disappointed in it. The writing didn’t flow as well as it did in their other books. And the characters were all just weak shadows of their former selves.
