As a spicy reader - the tension isn't built around their hooking up, that's the key. If you make the will/wont about the hooking up, then once it happens the joy ends. If you build around elements in the story that keep them from being a full couple as the tension, then hooking up is just fun. Example: Mobster romances between people who are forbidden to love each other. The tension isn't their spicy scene, the tension is if they'll be able to stop the people forcing them to be apart and hide their love. Spicy books, despite having a lot of spice, are very heavy of story plot because the plot typically keeps them apart. There are some exceptions in which one character can't open up to love (the playboy type) and they hinder the couple, but again that's more rare.
Respectively, I disagree on the Motorcycle Club Romance. There is always an exception to the rule. :) I write Christian Motorcycle Club romance and Christian Motorcycle Clubs do exist. Hearing your story of getting started is always inspiring. Thank you for sharing.
Right now I'm in KU, and after 90 days after the last of the books in series come out I'm going to consider other options. It is more that right now I don't have the bandwidth to plan a full wide launch.
Cheryl: "You're just really inspiring me right now." Yes, she's been inspiring me since I first found The Writing Gals in 2018. 💗 Also, yes! The Inn on Harmony Island ended on a cliffhanger, and I was listening to it while at work, so I wasn't aware it was the end of the book until it just ended. I stopped what I was doing and I just stood there for a moment going, "I'm going to k!ll her... I'm going to k!ll her..." So when I got home I post on FB and tagged and said "I'm going to K!ll you!!" 🤣🤣 Needless to say FB did not like that and I got in FB jail for 24hrs. So that's how Anne-Marie Meyer got me in FB jail for 24hrs. Lol 😜🤣
Wow, mad respect for that level of productivity. And here I'm playing jigsaw puzzles listening to a 1.5 hr podcast 😂
Nothing wrong with jigsaws! They're great for destressing - I'm a fellow puzzler ;) ~ Shar
