Southend-on-Sea VE & VJ Days 2009 - 2012

Victory in Europe (VE) Day commemorates the culmination of the Allied struggle against the Nazis and Axis forces in Europe during the Second World War. VE day was not the end of that conflict, although the immediate threat to the British Isles was over. The war in the Far East against Japan continued until 15 August 1945, but the immediate threat to the British Isles was over. This is commemorated by VJ Day.
