An Israeli student studying in the USA has accused Jet Blue of erasing Israel on their in-flight map app! This very real story that definitely happened is evidenced by zero pictures despite the fact that most people have a camera in their pocket at all times, so we know it's reliable! Glitchy text on a poorly-supported app is equivalent to violent anti-Semitism don't you know!

Being opposed to genocide should not be conflated with anti-semitism. Quite annoying, to say the least.

No one has the right to an ethnostate. Being against isreal isn't antisemitic it's anti genocide and apartheid.

    Hell yea!!! Palestine forever!!
Hating and erasing a terrible government and a colonial state is NOT anti semitism! There IS a separation from religion and state, and it shows many people can’t separate the two.

I feel the need to take a humanitarian stand. Solutions need to be based not on re-adjudicating historical injustices, but on helping humans now. But it’s easy for me to say that as someone not personally invested in the conflict.
I’m not any kind of ethno-nationalist. National borders are always somewhat arbitrary. Pragmatically, I lean toward a two-state solution. I think generations of Palestinians and Israelis both have a right to their homes.

I do not think there is any point in re-litigating the 1948-1966 period. This should be more about human and civil rights and equality than about sovereignty or where borders should be. 1-state 2-state. If I was to speak to Israel as a whole, I think I would stay that “If you don’t want to ensure their human and civil rights, including the right to either vote in your elections or to have sovereignty (not less than one or the other), then evacuate from the occupied territories and put in place a unilateral multilateral or bilateral moratorium on retaliatory military action, and don’t launch military against them except those minimally necessary to protect life or your own territorial integrity. But what is going on, obviously, is way beyond that. So much needs to be done beyond that to reestablish civil society in the occupied territories, but you can’t reasonably take no responsibility for the state of government, public opinion, or security in the territories if you are unwilling to stop sewing chaos, undermining peaceful or restrained nationalist voices, and oppressing the people. I mean you may be justified in a lot of what you have done, but peace needs to be the goal, and peace includes ensuring the other side achieves their rightful and peaceful goals. There are no 100:0 peace agreements. You need to give things up.”

From what I understand, Palestine is a geographic location like saying the Levant. The nationalistic identity around the region came later.

the paper not asking Jet Blue for comment or a copy of the map in question could be seen as suspicious, but to me this reads more like an opinion piece and there is, necessarily, more leeway for those. of course you're free to criticize an opinion piece, but you can't really say it's disingenuous or "wrong", so I don't really see the point in even talking about it. like the underlying thread of mild paranoia, conspiracy and connected fear being unreasonable should be obvious, just as the observation that framing stories and opinions is something that happens and media can and should be questioned. not to say it's not interesting, but I don't think I get it.

Maybe she overreacted. It's too bad we don't have a picture of the map in question. While tjis incident may seem trivial, it's just another thing to add to the pile of antisemitism.
If you aren't a Jew I don't expect you to fully understand how we feel. There absolutely legitimate criticisms against Israel. Netanyahu should be on trial for war crimes. The problem is that far too often the pro Palestine folks end up doing something antisemic. I was watching a video of an orthodox Rabbi showing how he prays. In the comments people brought up the situation in Gaza. Multiple people felt the need to hop a random Jewish video to comment on the war. It reminds me of how after 9/11, Muslims and people who were mistaken for Muslims were harassed or worse.
I am an observant Jew. So I am visibly Jewish. I stay away from the Palestine protests because I don't want to get harassed or worse. I plan on putting up a big ass menorah on my lawn for Hanukkah. It will be interesting to see if anyone damages it.
The annoying thing is that people seem to forget that middle grounds exist. You can be in favor of a Jewish state and against the war crimes in Gaza. You can support the Palestinians without supporting terrorists like Hamas.
If anyone wants to have a discussion with me, I am all for it. But I don't go on social media on the sabbath. So don't expect a reply before Sunday.

I think a lot of people, myself included, are justifiably frustrated that criticism of the state of Israel, its actions or existence, is called a type of anti-Semitism. But then, I'm from a country where there's a presumed separation of church and state and we don't have an official state religion so maybe that's the difference? Is Israel fully and completely equivalent with Judaism as a whole?
Obviously people are using the situation as an excuse to be anti-Semitic to individuals in some cases. But I've also seen people at Pro-Palestine protests wielding the Israel flag beating up pro-Palestine protesters while police watch on and do literally nothing to stop the one-sided violence so I do kind of think that being scared of what might happen at a protest as a pro-Israel Jew is kind of disingenuous.
I also think it's worth pointing out that when Palestinians make broad statements against Jews, that's like Black people in America making broad statements about white people. Jews aren't oppressed in that part of the world, they are the dominant group violently oppressing another group (or, the government is claiming a Jewish identity and weaponizing it to violently oppress another group, this is part of the problem of associating yourself as a Jew with the government of Israel). Palestinian sentiment against Jewish occupation can't be taken within a western context of anti-Semitism because the dynamics are fundamentally different.

Have you considered that we're not actually antisemitic at all, and the people telling you that are lying to you to try and bring you back into the fold?
Also, you can't be in favour of an ethnostate and also pretend that it will be established peacefully. You've gotta square that away on your own.
