- This is the full story of the day my life was turned upside down. I tell you this story just to be up front with everyone and to get the right info out there. I am not looking for sympathy as i was in the wrong. Im leaving this in 2019 so I can enjoy this amazing year ahead of me. Hope you all will be with me for the journey.

A friend of mine went to a show in Maryland. Had a frog (legal in his state). Was told they were not legal in Maryland. Put it UNDER the table. Asked a fish cop to verify the law if it was indeed illegal. Was told that it was. Then asked if he had one. Yes, but will not put it out while in the show. Will take it back home when the show was over. Got arrested anyway FOR TRYING TO DO THE RIGHT THING.
I respect law enforcement for the most part, but this was total douche baggery at it's finest.
Ya but your friend made a big mistake lol... never ask a cop if a law is real of you are breaking said law.

I am sorry this happened to you and how you were treated afterwards. I had stumbled across the news story when I first started watching your videos. I decided that I was not going to allow them to taint my opinion of you or your channel. What I see through your videos is a passionate and knowledgeable individual that loves his reptiles. Your cages are clean and the animals look healthy. I am scared to death of snakes but have a healthy respect for them. You allow me to learn and grow without having to be near the venomous animals. Thank you. Hopefully you can now release the anxiety and feelings of guilt you have harbored for these past years. Although you felt you owed us an explanation you truly did not.
BTW I held my first snakes a few weeks ago. The baby corn was super spastic but I understood that he wasn't trying to hurt me but wanted to just get away from me. Once I safely and gently returned him to his enclosure I felt a sense of accomplishment. Thank you.

I grew up in Reno and caught my first great basin rattlesnake at about age 10. I was hooked. I caught many and once got a more or less dry bite. (Still hurt like hell) work sent me to Tucson and every night I was out catching snakes and caught many species. Then I went to visit a friend in Belize. I read everything I could on eyelash bikers and fir de lances and spent 16 nights in the jungle hoping to catch one. Your videos and others have made me glad I didn't find one. Keep up the good work.

I can so relate to much of it as I left a situation where no one knew some things were happening and I got accused of terrible things which totally ruined my reputation. Then last year my husband who had had some strokes committed suicide and the ball python he had given me for my birthday was accidentally let go by a family member. So needless to say it has been very hard. I'm glad you're doing well and I hope life just keeps getting better!

You don't have to explain anything to anyone man. The flocking govt agencies want to regulate EVERY DAMN THING they can. Marijuana is totally legal in one state, next state over you'll get 10 years in prison for having a roach in the car. Most people are sick of the gov't harassing and collecting and regulating every damn thing people do in every aspect of existence. Keep on educating and keep that passion for what you love man!

I am from the uk and its really hard to get or get permits for venomous snakes but I have 23 snakes and love your channel so keep going strong, and if the snakes are yours or not people like me wouldn't see these beautiful animals if not for you. Plus when things went wrong, keepers should of come to you and helped you out and shown strength in the reptile community and not run and blamed you. Just shows your strength and commitment to the animals and the reptile community. 👍

It’s sad that you would feel the need to apologize for something that can easily happen to the best intentioned people. Laws are often not just or sensible but some people seem to think they are made by superior qualified beings and I can assure you this is often not the case. Thank you that is a great way to look at it and very true. The powers to be are the most illiterate to the statistics. Many laws have no real justification. I still feel the need to apologize since many people come to my channel for the respectful handling and lack of sensationalism for the most part. And I feel any illegal action know my part makes us all look bad. With the collection I work with and keep I want people to see the need for conservation but if all everyone is talking about I'm just a bad influence I think they will miss my lesson.
I personally didn't know your back story I have just started to learn about venomous in the last year and a half just wasn't in my wheel house. But it makes sence. I had a similar instance (not with hot though) where I did something illegal with a reptile I owned for yrs. Same thing as far as moving something I shouldn't have. I didn't get caught. Just wanted to say that bc I understand the situation 100%. I can't blame u for doing something that was best for the animals. Even though it's wrong on paper. U could of said "I'll let these go in Maryland. They won't survive through the winter and I won't get in trouble". As STUPID as that sounds ppl do it ALL THE TIME. Good for u man. Thx for opening up. I'm terrified of snakes , I've been overseas in 2 wars and still would be more afraid of a snake , even a gardener snake lol. That being said I have a viper tattoo sleeve wrapping around my arm elbow to shoulder, to face my only fear . But I must say , I watch a couple of hours of youtube daily on your, tyler , Chandler's, and others pages for the knowledge and learn more about the reptiles. It blows my mind they way all of you handle the animlas , and I truly see genuine love for these reptiles from all of you . Sorry you had to deal with all that nonsense, and thank you for the story . I love your videos. I love Cobras and other elapids. I had seen reports on google and what I read did not match up with what I saw in your videos so I knew there had a valid reason for what happened. On your videos, it is abundantly obvious that you care so much for reptiles and I love the fact that you take the time to explain about each and every snake that you show us. You’re from Missouri? Me too. Outside of STL. I recently started watching two channels that randomly popped up in my feed. I’ve never thought about keeping a snake as a pet until recently.
I’ve been around them and handled them. I’m fine with that. Non venomous. But then I saw Tyler Nolan’s false water cobra and started researching them. They are very beautiful and I’m starting to get an interest in keeping one.
I was wondering if you could point me in the right direction as to what the relevant laws are regarding certification/licensing and any other educational materials you think I should study before going down this path.
I want to know as much as possible so I can make the best informed decision I can on this matter.

The one thing I appreciate the most about your channel and how you handle your animals is how you respect them and treat them appropriately. There are a lot of YT channels with someone VERY famous YT’ers being extremely careless or downright risky handling some of the most venous snakes in the world all for views. You never do that. You handle them, but in the most careful way possible.
I appreciate you noticing. If I ever get bit know it wasn't avoidable. But I truly believe every bite is avoidable so I don't plan on getting bit. Why take the risk you know having millions of fans would be nice but if that day comes that I got bit doing something stupid the animal would suffer and so would the people who love me. Why risk it
