    Loved your comment on the False Water Cobra...they are indeed “quirky”, very food oriented (i.e launching to the top and/or out of a cage when food is offered), but for the most part rather calm when food is nowhere to be found. So if you want to handle them, do it on an off feed week.

    Loving the Q&A videos mate! Despite being the free handeling example 😂
    I totally appreciate the concern with regards to freehandling, but I also believe not all free handeling is equal,
    Take Tyler Nolan on one extreme, there’s loads of photos of elapids wrapped around his hands where even if he had to drop/put down a snake he can’t do it
    Then there’s freehandling like Steve Irwin was known for,
    Even I don’t like seeing some photos where people are holding a snake in a way that there is zero margin for error

      Not meaning to be disrespectful but really and this is just my opinion but there's no reason unless you have a sick or injured animal. What I'm trying to say is idiots showing off make me angry, everytime there's a bite or death due to having a venomous the gestapo goverment makes more rules and regs against ownership. I'm sure you know a hell of a lot more then me. I've only done snakes and reptiles and bugs for coming up 15 yrs. now. I finally got my first true "hot" 9 months ago an albino atrox and have plans on getting more hots in the near future. I'm thinking something in the Naja variety for my next one

I love to talk to anyone who keeps reptiles I can always learn more.

      Matt Burns I used to be anti any free handeling but like I said I don’t think all free handeling is the same
      Tailing a snake that’s being caught is really free handeling
      Also if handling a hog nosed snake equal to handeling a mamba?
      I’ve spoken to Venomman20 before about the fact that even some of my snakes I wouldn’t handle the same way if I was in the states, without reliable anti venom ect

    Nice video, about the venom potency, I read that a baby rattlesnake's bite can be more deadly than a adult because baby snakes have trouble controlling how much venom they release, they usually release the full load. But a adult learns to use just a little or enough to be able to kill a prey and sometimes adults will do dry bites since they in the self defense mode.

    lol...guess I should have been more clear on my question..I wasn't asking where to get hots cause I am new....I'm 46 and been handling and keeping hots since I was 7...however, for over the last 20 years I had gotten out of the business due to life issues and have over the last 5 or so years been getting back into the hots I love..however, my state will not issue an import permit without a health certificate and most online source can not get you one...underground reptiles, josh alder and a dtsherps can but not fascination or most others I have found...I have also realized that most of the good places from the 80's and 90's are out of business such as glades and others...I have also come to realize that many of the species I am interested in are rarely listed for sale anywhere as the private breeders that do have them have waiting lists and no contact info and that their information generally comes from other keeps. And there are not many keepers I have contact with especially in my state...Al Coritz and Crutchfield I visit with a bit online for technical and scientific information which is great but even Crutchfield doesn't sell publicly much anymore...and Al can't get me a health certificate...most of my interest is in spitting cobras and most anything arboreal and would give up any limb for a spider tail....but again...many of the most rare species and hard to find species are waiting list species...seems most anyone from Florida can get health certificates but breeders just do not list themselves as in the old days.. Reptile Gardens probably would work also but rarely have anything I am interested..I have handled just about everything through the years and my interest has become more specific as I have gotten older...anyways, I appreciate your comments and suggestions...next time I go to Iowa to visit family I'll give you a call...would love visit for a few sometime...cheers...oh...I am working with a legistlator this next session to change our health certificate requirement...everything looks to be positive with that and the head of fish and game in my state and I are on a first name basis and seems they may support our bill....so fingers crossed...

    Questions:
    Which snake species that you personally own do you consider to be the smartest ? (whether that be trainabilty for want of a better word or figuring things out, etc)
    Which snake in your opinion is the most underrated (venomous or non venomous) (not necessarily as a pet but allround, even as an animal you can observe & learn from)
    When you come to Australia can you consider doing either a meet & greet or a seminar?
    What is your favourite lizard species & why?

    speaking of that “venomous getting loose and not hurting other people”, i heard a story on youtube from a first responder (don’t know if it’s true or not, but... seemed plausible) of three kids in florida (supposedly like 4-8 yo) and were taking pictures with a snake they thought was a python and wrapping it around there necks and playing with what seemed like a perfectly harmless python to the kids...Turns out the first responder got there and had some herp experience and almost had a heart attack, he realized it was a WA Gaboon Viper, he told the kids to get away from it and told the parents who promptly had a baby heart attack while he called animal control.

    To be fair, reptile experts and the general population in Australia are very lucky to have a system where out of 3000 bites a year, only 2 deaths. This is due to the fact that first aid for all Australian snakes is exactly the same, and we have universal health so we don't pay a cent for antivenom.

    Second question: what all creatures do you possess that are native to north America?
    But, yes! I'm in Texas, come see meee! Lol. I never see them alive since they're so secretive, but I know there's a butt ton of coral snakes here since I see them, sadly, as road kill every spring. There's also a very large somebody who lives in my barn that leaves me a 6 foot shed skin every so often. Plus a mountain lion ate my cat and scared the bejesus out of my dog, coyotes sing every night, and I spot foxes and bobcats cross the roads between the forests on the hills. Also the biodiversity of bug life is insane here. Anyway, just saying, visit meeee, if you go to Texas.

    Bro snake charming is illegal in india from 1972. They get caught and go to jail for 3-7 years minimum.

    • @terminator2340
      @terminator2340 4 года назад +1

      @Amanda B for your info the number are dropping dramatically because if a sole person on who's income the house is getting food (6 or more people) goes to jail for minimum 3 max 7 years the situation of the house will be deadly.
      Second. if any charmer is seen the first thing people do is call cops or wildlife NGO's.
      Third. all the people in india knows that all wildlife is illegal.
      And the others you see are rotten eggs you will find people (doing something illegal with animals) are found all over the world.
      Even in USA where almost (not all) every animal is legal (if it's not in that state they can move to another state to keep it) people do illegal things. Like not housing them properly, animal cruelty, having s*x wit big pythons, killing them, and all sort of stuff. Rotten eggs like these are found all over the world.
      India is doing a great job of protecting the native animals (almost all countries are) but still you'll find a stupid person no matter how the situation is.
      But charmers are not found easily these days and will be hardly 500 in whole country but if you look at India's population of 1 billion that's a very good number and withing next 10 years there won't be any(or hardly some).

    Your position on free handling,and handling in general,are the same as mine. These so called licenced professionals who free handle a King Cobra are in my opinion stupid. My protocol will be they don’t get handled unless absolutely or medically necessary. And here in Alabama,all because some idiot let his pet Cobra get loose and made headlines has caused me no small amount of grief. I can keep them,but I have to be a certified research,rehab,zoo or education facility,which I am working on.

    I was wondering, do copperheads make good starter venomous snakes?

    • @jdj7849
      @jdj7849 4 года назад

      Hi, I'd say it depends on your experience with reptiles and snakes in general. Although I'm out of the hobby of keeping and breeding reptiles for meanwhile 20 years due to health issues that made a proper caring impossible but I started with non-venomous snakes and after 10 years of experience I changed over to 'hot' snakes. And I started with Copperheads. It went very well for me and after a couple of month I got a few Mexican mocassin adders (Agkistrodon bilineatus). Well and from that point on my collection got bigger and bigger for the next 20 years until I had to stop everything for the reasons mentioned above. Hope this helps and I also hope it makes enough sense 'cause English isn't my native language.
