Keith said Mick was much better at playing harmonica than he is at singing. This is okay, but his harp playing on "Midnight Rambler" is my absolute favorite.
I agree, Midnight Rambler was Mick at his best. Mick at his worst was the harp solo on Like A Rolling Stone on the Stripped CD. God, he was dragging the notes! Harmonica is like any instrument, you have to maintain your base. The first blues riff I learned was Spider and the Fly.
When it comes to judging singers or musicians it’s totally subjective. Mick never tried to hit the high Cs or audition for the Met. To many, he is the best Rock & Roll singer there ever was or will be. His harmonica lends a haunting feel to many of the Stone’s classic hits, giving them a depth of feeling not heard before.
Delta Blues came up the Mississippi, became electrified in Chicago, picked up by a British boy and delivered to the outback... now I call that some Rock N' Roll.
I remember seeing this at the start of Mick jaggers solo tour of Australia back in 1988. The concert was one of the best I’ve ever seen. Absolutely amazing.
The best freaking solo harmonica clip I have ever seen...including the dusty windy down under setting and those country folks wondering who the heck is playing the harmonica??
I remember first seeing and hearing this from Mick Jagger, shows another talent of his. Famous Artist like Mick can pick up and play in or out of tune and still get fans listening in or buying it because of who he is and what he has achieved in his life. ❤
I'd go with an old crystal element Astatic or the vintage, controlled reluctance element Green Bullets and a Fender Princeton with 6V6 power tubes. Then mic the amp. Nobody blows harp through a Marshall!
Agree this is his best playing blues harp. Maybe not up to his great singing, showmanship and ability to help keep the band together, but a really decent effort.
@@edweber6136 I've just practiced at Overblows, but I'm sure there he's not playing any. Yes, it's relatively easy if you've been playing for a while like everything else if you know what you're doing. And, Mick Jagger does, and of course the best equipment to record om helps too. But, still it wouldn't sound good if Mick Jagger didn't sound good no matter how good the recording gear is. I don't have a harp in front of me, but believe the key is E playing an A harp for cross harp. Maybe D using a G harp, maybe F using a Bflat.

Keith said also that Mick was the best singer, he even excused him for what he wrote about Mick, quite confuse guy, not really a nice fellow.

Agree 100%
Shows he really knew his blues, and not just rock n roll.
Still does
blues is why he got into music; his two faves were Muddy Waters abd Howlin' Wolf

a loud one...

Brian jones was the harp player. If you want to hear a great harp player, Listen to Paul Butterfield.
Not a lot of context for this clip. For the record he DIDN'T play harp on The Stones biggest hit to feature the instrument, "Miss You".
