I think you might have parsed the name of Yolgjörd wrong. I am thinking less Yolg + jörd, but Yol + gjörd. Gjörd (or gjǫrð, if you will) means girdle, easy one, and given the Uruz theme and the description of the belt as the "enduring one" as well as how we are already using ö and d for o caudata and eth, I assume Y stands for thorn, thus yol = þol = endurance, making it þolgjǫrð aka endurance girdle, or as Thor puts it, a girdle of endurance.
Good theory. I didn’t consider that Ewing was going for gjörd instead of jörd. Still usually þ is replaced with a “th” instead of “y” (“Thor” as an obvious example). The “y” for þ seems a bit too complicated, but the name does make sense if it’s intended. Maybe Ewing will clear it up at some point.
@@ThorTalk It is odd, but depends on the old norse to modern english spelling convention. They're using D for eth, which is primarily visual resemblance. Y for thorn used to be very common in the Early english press for similar reasons, as the two letters looked quite similar in the handwritten styles and the presses' blackletter typeset they used back then. For example, this is where we originally got those "ye olde" signs from, it was just using the old formely popular convention and spelling "the" with a thorn subistitute.
Oh you’re right, I forgot about the “þ” to “y” change. Also upon reflection, I have no idea how I missed “gjörd” over “jörd”. Like that’s how it is for “Meggingjörd”. I’m liking your interpretation the more I think about it. I’ll pin your comment so everyone can see it. Thank you
Strange Academy was a series I initially read because I found it interesting but dropped the initial run when it only had 2-4 issues left😅. It couldn't keep my attention unfortunately but it's dope that plot from their played into this story. It actually got me thinking would y'all be mad if in canon Thor had a child? Would it matter if the mother was Amora or not? I know in the King Thor story they had a kid but I wouldn't mind if in Canon Thor had a child. I'm all for characters becoming older/taking on new responsibilities in the comics. Also forgot to mention some months ago but did you know in Scarlet Witch Comic they listed Odin as a Nexus Being😮. It makes sense to me especially when you look at how pivotal Odin was in Marvel history especially regarding Humans. Even though marvel still offer both Odin & Celestials created humans narrative
Thor 5 should adapt this with the intro being zeus's death And a small post title card fight between thor and hercules to make them friends After that they should adapt this , hercules explaining about the new evil zeus and stuff Wouldn't mind a part 2 of it since it's a thor movie They had a potential chance to make gorr's movie in 2 parts one where he slaughters gods and shows his pain and suffering second where future thor recruits our thor and young thor I can already bet these movies would definitely make 900million if it showed the gorr saga fully
This issue was alright but not jaw-dropping. however i am looking forward for the next issue, On a scale of 1 to 10 what rating do you give this one Thor talk?
While I enjoy the storytelling in this run, I have to say the fights have been wildly unimpressive. I get this title is more about Thor using his head over brawn, but I'd hope that in a series that has so little fights, the few fights that show up would be epic.

Thor still has not passed his endurance test yet
The gods...❤❤❤
Thor Banishing Loki is gonna be a problem very soon i can tell, cause Thor has 1 more test from Loki but what im not sure.
Goof emphasis

They screwed up everything on gorr
Hopefully not on heracles
Hope you are ok Thor Talk.

More Bragi and Uller. They seem to be prototypes of Thor and Loki.
4k views nice 👍
I think i like Thor an Amora’s relationship because its real love but its also toxic, way too toxic.
Vidar should replace Thor in the Avengers. He is distantly related to Set, Surtur, and Chthon whose avatar is the Scarlet Witch.
With Hermod’s death Thor is short a messenger. Thiaf could fill this role.
I prefer Thor and Sif by a lot but fair
Honestly I do too, but I still liked the chemistry on display here from Amora and Thor. It’s weird how Sif has just fallen off as Thor’s love interest
@@ThorTalk same
@@ThorTalk it is weird
@@Redoren966I like thor and amora thanks to avengers emh
