      Nik Nocturnal D# Standard is quite underrated. Stabwound by Necrophagist and Raining Blood by Slayer are two of my favourites.

    Drop C#, when drop D is not heavy enough but drop C makes your strings flop too much.

      I use normal 10-46 and my strings are fine down to Drop A# :P

      @@jch_music Nah, I'm serious. I haven't gone lower than Drop A, but the strings stay tight enough to play well. To top it off, the guitar I abuse by doing that is a cheap $150 Schecter C-1 SGR that plays wonderfully. I'm too paranoid to do that and risk throwing off the intonation/action/tension on my Jim Root or my Chapman.

      @@jch_music I use regular slinkys and they've been fine down to drop G#
      You might have to adjust your trus rod for string tension

    Man, them bones by alice in chains is a great c sharp song. of the heaviest most "in your face" type of riffs the 90's in my opinion.

    I do love drop C#. its just low enough to have some serious grunt and low end boom to it, but unlike some lower tunings it still has a lot of punch too. Heavy without being djenty.

      Totally agree. I've been playing in C# for 2 years and I find it perfectly balanced, it's a low tuning that still allows you to perceive all the notes you play without it all being too muddy

      Which song? These are heavy metal songs. Some may be heavier than others. Of mice and men is probably one of the heaviest. Just listen to “How to Survive” by Of Mice and Men. You’ll see

    There's one riff that I wish was really popular, because it's heavy af in my opinion. Well, maybe not a riff, but a really powerful chord progression. Polish band Ira released a song called mój bój (eng: a god of mine). When intro ends, it really hits hard. Worth checking out regardless of language barrier

      I wrote them off for a long time because of their fanbase (ripped skinny jeans, long jet black hair, gauges, black lipstick, studded belts, snake bites, etc haha) and "whiney" vocals. Boy was I an idiot, wish I gave them an honest listen much sooner. Collide with the sky is one of my favorite albums to jam to now, really fun good music! Better late than never :D

    I would've loved to see the pre-solo riff in Stone by Alice In Chains. It's got a chromatic/diminished kinda vibe, as well as includes a m2 harmonic interval, so that's metal enough for me.

    Pierce the Veil's Bulls in the Bronx has a real easy but pretty fun to play riff right at the beginning. They play super often in drop c # so if you didn't include them I would have been surprised. Great vid!

      Jason LovesABR Drop C# is basically D# standard tuning but with the top string tuned to C# and Them Bones is in Drop C#
