  • Finding a place to do pull-ups and other hanging exercises can be a challenge, especially when you're traveling. My new invention can turn almost any sturdy overhead support, like tree limbs and stairwells into a pull-up station.

Are you from India . I once visited and I saw no houses just apartment building . Although I saw some house but they were barely big enough to fit one car inside the driveway area. People of India live in apartments. Yeah and I also saw some big homes with huge gardens but you could tell those homes were owned by the super rich in a particular area and there were Ferraris parked inside . So yeah

The beautiful thing about calisthenics is the near infinite number of exercises which all compliment each other as full body movement patterns. If you get stuck on your pull ups, try to improve your inverted rows. If you get stuck on your handstand, try improving your shoulder mobility by working on your ROM on skin the cat. I always try not only to improve the exercises I'm currently doing, but expand my routine with new exercises. Each new exercise is a challenge which strengthens weak links in other exercises. Something as simple as support walk on parallel bars can be challenging at first. That means there is some weak link not being addressed with other exercises. Improving that weak link then carries over to other to improving other exercises.

Great tips, Matt, at 0.14 sec you show door pullups. My question is, since the legs can't move forward (because of the door in front), does it make door pullups more difficult and therefore more effective than BAR pullups where the legs can move forward?

I actually did a similar project to this. Homemade gymnastic rings using 1/2” electrical PVC bell-end elbow pipes and polyester electrical cable pull tape. Aside from the required materials which are so cheap and easy to obtain, cementing the pipes together is a MUST. Otherwise you’ll fall on your ass with the ring-shaped pipes coming apart.
Edit: I mostly use this for body rows since the PVC parallette I made doesn’t give me enough elbow room.

I could be remembering wrong but years ago I think some guy went on the joe rogan podcast and showed some similar tool he made from rope and handles, but i think it somehow allowed him to work the same muscles as a pull-up without even needing to do real pull-ups or hang from anything. He would just use it standing in his hotel room for instance. Assuming my memory isn’t out of whack, anyone know which podcast I’m thinking of so we could find that thing?
