@Ghivary Fahmi a bit before reading that part I was thinking it was funny how you never hear any of kenji's songs. I chalked it up to the author not being able to play an instrument. I've never been so pleasantly surprised as I was when I came up to kenji's song with the chords

And a mangaka that wrote the Nameless Monster just to incorporate subtext throughout Monster.
Just got to this scene in the manga and had to look it up to see if anyone had done an interpretation, only to find that Urasawa himself did it! What a legend! Had to go back and re-read it with the song playing haha

I cannot accurately say or imagine what Urasawa was thinking or feeling in this particular moment. I could only say that living with such passion and create something that exceeds yourself, something that was born in your head or heart and make it a little bit more real, is something wonderful. For many this is only a song, for others it could be a love letter for peace, in these times where we all need a little hope and a tender hand to give and receive. You are great Urasawa.

idk why everyone says he sings horribly, while i know that that's not supposed to be an insult, he sings decently, with a lot emotions on top of it.
I think it's because Kenji is suppose to sing horribly, so they imagine he sounds like Kenji would.
This style of music (folk) isn't supposed to sound crystal clear. It's about rawness, passion, heart and sould. Actually, having crisp vocals would strip away that feeling. Bob Dylan also did folk and his voice fit perfectly in the genre, and people also said he wasn't a good singer.

Bob Lennon is a mixture of Bob Dylan and John Lennon. I can derive this cuz there's a harmonica solo which is a signature of Bob Dylan's songs plus Naoki Urasawa's singing style is identical to that of Bob's and the lyrics seem to be John Lennon style. This song is a love letter to the two legendary artists. Truly beautiful.

He is pronouncing the Ls in "Sudalalala" and "Gutalalala". Normally Japanese people would pronounce them to what people in the west would view as an R, because Ls do not exist in their language, (well technically Rs dont either but that's not the point). Really shows how passionate he was to relearn how to pronounce something he's said for his whole life just for a song that was made for his manga.

This man is a genius. He had to work with a ridiculous plot, with a guy in a mask trying to take over the world, but he made it work, and he made one of the best mangas in the world.

I love that he isn't a very polished musical performer it makes it so much more raw and REAL. There is something beautiful about watching someone perform a song for an audience for the first time without having spent a lifetime honing a their skill set and just laying their heart bare. Urusawa and Mirua are my absolute favorite mangaka, extremely grateful Urusawa is still with us.
I had to look up for this song just so that I can sang along in my head with everyone in the series while I was reading. Kenji and Bob Lennon saved the world.
