  • Many of you may or may not know about the Muscadine Grape that grow in most of the Southern United States from Texas all the way to North Carolina, but just as little of you may know of the white variety! The scuppernong is a large variety of muscadine. It is usually a greenish or bronze color and is similar in appearance and texture to a white grape, but rounder and larger and first known as the big white grape. The grape is commonly known as the "scuplin" in some areas of the Deep South. It is also known as the scafalum", "scupanon", "scupnun", or "scufadine" in some parts of the South.
Scuppernong grapes are sweet and slightly acidic, with undertones of honeysuckle and orange blossom, and have a musky scent and flavor that lingers on the tongue.
Come join me on the dock as we brew a Southern Classic., the one and only Scuppernong Wine!
Notes: Dry, Semi-Sweet, or Sweet, pick your favorite. This one is very enjoyable the way you prefer. Remember, you can make it the way you like.
This one came out a little on the low side of my goal starting gravity, but it's fine. You can go up to 2 1/2 lbs of sugar to start with, but know that ec-1118 can eat its way through sugar. Most likely your wine will go dry.

Very nice. Never heard of Scuppernong. They kind of look like olives.

Hey have you tried making some meads with barrel aged honey? I can send you some honey links if you want. That would be a crazy experiment

Just some feed back… No music would be better especially while you are talking. Remember a lot of people myself included watch videos sped up. With music sped up to x5 is obnoxious. Great video other wise keep at it!
