  • In this video, I will troubleshoot a reach in freezer that is freezing up. Once I find the reason for the freeze up, I find a much bigger issue.

    Your content deserves way more views. Great job. I come from a residential hvac maintenance and install background (mostly grunt work on installs) and I recently got a job with a commercial refrigeration company. Trying to stay on top of it.

    Thanks for the ride along and explanations.
    Minor error, your ambient plus 30 should have yielded 101F or a 255psi head

      Its great that you are teaching the need to know coil temps and the need to match the saturation temps to whatever refrigerant is in a particular system, the PT chart instead of just relying on a smart manifold or probe reading alone.

      Nope, work at all different locations. We have a lot of different chain and small accounts.

    Very nice. I didn’t know about the “temp pull down : 1 degree per 2 mins “ I’ll keep a note of that!

    • @REFRIGERATIONKITCHENEQTECH
      @REFRIGERATIONKITCHENEQTECH  3 года назад +1

      Yes, that is for reach in freezers. Should be 1 closer to 1 degree per minute if the system is working correctly. The lower we get in temperature, the closer it will get to 1 degree per 2 minutes.

    I’m still wondering how do u determine the evaporator TD to be 20, I know pre 2006 most units condenser td is 30
    Where can I find this info I feel it’s a good thing to know seeing how it’s working for you

    So does that mean the compressor is done? It's there a refrigerant restriction somewhere? Im new to hvacr and am trying to learn.

    • @REFRIGERATIONKITCHENEQTECH
      @REFRIGERATIONKITCHENEQTECH  3 года назад

      High suction + low head = inefficient compressor. If we had a restriction on a cap tube we would have low suction.

    I'm very interested in your reasoning for which applications get desired temp - 20° or desired temp - 15°. Also, which applications get 0 box temp compared to -10°.

    The head pressure calculated wrongly , 71F+30F is 101F

    Depending where it is it will exhibit the same symptoms, low suction, low head, could be partially restricted capillary or Txv screen, or filter drier partially clogged.

    • @REFRIGERATIONKITCHENEQTECH
      @REFRIGERATIONKITCHENEQTECH  3 года назад +2

      Suction wasn’t low. Had high suction, low head, which is a definite sign of an inefficient compressor on this type of unit.

    • @chriswhite7193
      @chriswhite7193 3 года назад

      My bad, I thought you said low suction on the video.

      A restriction anywhere in the refrigeration system would cause high head pressure low suction pressure no?

    30⁰? Ambient+30... Why?

  • @chriswhite7193
    @chriswhite7193 3 года назад

    Couldn’t it have also been a partial restriction???

  • @randomrefrigeration4564

    Did you ever notice you added up your head wrong 71 ambient +30=101 not 111
    That made your head appear higher then what you thought

  • @firefightere18
    @firefightere18 2 года назад

    Not sure if it would make a difference. When you added 71 plus 30 you came up with 111. It actually is 101.

    • @REFRIGERATIONKITCHENEQTECH
      @REFRIGERATIONKITCHENEQTECH  2 года назад +2

      Yes should be 101. Maybe I did that to see if my techs are paying attention. Or maybe I made a mistake lol

    Those trough heaters are a joke. The silver tape holding them almost always fails. For what these units cost mfg a track for the heater. What do I know just a dumb service tech.
