Whaaat?! You’re from the Smoky Mountains?? Me too! That is SO cool that there’s a fantasy middle grade series set here. I would have absolutely been obsessed with that as a kid!
It made me so happy that this video is sponsored by Disney. Go Lexi! As for the recommendations, I wish there were more hours in a day to read them all! Starting up A pinch of magic tomorrow!
It seems like anytime I'm looking for book recs for anything I end up here😂 I like that you have alot of middle grade options on your channel, most books I've read that I love are middle grade
Also definitely buying king and the dragonflies. My aunt passed away a few years ago and she loved dragonflies and we like to believe she turned into one
Willa of the Wood is on my TBR, I need to buy the whole series! I hated The BFG the book but LOVED the movie. So glad I watched it when I did. It made me wanna read the book but it's totally different to me. LOL The first 2 books of The Chronicles of Narnia... I read the first one and not enough to read the rest but I bought the set for my oldest nephew and got the 2nd one in a used bookstore place. I was not into the first one enough to keep going. Maybe I should just listen to the audiobook if I can find it. We'll see... Tuck Everlasting, I gave that 1 star. I have it for the library. Howl's Moving Castle is on my TB, I need to read that soon but so much bought already so I'll wait for when I finish the books I've already gotten. Nevermoor was on audiobook and I hated the voice for one of the characters so much that I gave this one 1 stars but I'm willing to read the sequel because the story wasn't bad. I'll read it physically this time. The Train to Impossible Places is on my immediate TBR. Not sure what week it's gonna be read but it'll be in July. Can't wait! Yeah, it would be cool to own a dragon. But, where would we put them? In books these creatures are huge, not like a cat or dog! Language of Spells is on my TBR. King and the Dragonflies is in my TBR as well! I read a Jaclyn Moriarty book not too long ago and hated it. The Whispering Wars. Every single chapter was being passed onto another character and it was so annoying that I gave it a low rating. It used to be on GoodReads but it seems they've taken it down. I guess they don't know what it is. www.amazon.com/Whispering-Wars-Jaclyn-Moriarty/dp/1338255878/ref=sr_1_1?dchild=1&keywords=the+whispering+wars+jaclyn+moriarty&qid=1624868904&sr=8-1 I'm adding TEIAOBM for you though. Maybe I'll enjoy this one. I hope it's not passing chapters around like the one I read. I added to the Audible wish list since I found it there. I LOVED Sweep! 5 STARS ALL THE WAY!! The Castle of Tangled Magic I wanna read. If I remember correctly, it's supposed to be in my Amazon cart to buy for my haul at the end of the year. I have the first 2 books in the Pinch of Magic series but have yet to start it. Soon I hope. The Graveyard Book... I read a book of his for kids and loved it so much that I decided I wanted to read more of his stuff so this will go on the TBR and hopefully I'll enjoy his stuff. Audio, okay, will do. Oh, I see I have a few of his audiobooks on the wish list already! Will try to read him soon. By the way, it's not even 5AM right now and I'm up because sometimes I have a hard time staying asleep and some nights I wake up an HOUR after falling asleep and can never get back to sleep so I just stay on the computer watching videos or listening to music on Spotify. Sucks but can't do anything about it. Oh well.
This was a treat. Thank u so much for the amazing recommendations. It sorts my niece's Birthday present. A book I would highly recommend is Eight Princesses and a Magic Mirror. Which also reads like a bed story as a Magic Mirror travels through time and meets 8 different Princesses.
Can recommend Eva Evergreen, Semi-Magical Witch for that cosy, Studio Ghibli, Kiki's Delivery Service story for middle grade and above readers. And it's a series!
As someone who is also obsessed with Nevermoor, you have to read The Accidental Apprentice by Amanda Foody. As a children’s librarian I feel it’s my duty to tell everyone about this book! :)
I've read "Howl's Moving Castle" and also watched the movie, I love them both. I've been interested in reading "A Pinch of Magic" but haven't picked it up yet. I've also read "The Graveyard Book" and loved it! A whimsical book series that I'd recommend that I think is Middle Grade that I read in Secondary School (I live in England, don't know what that is in comparison to different school systems) is the Dragonfire series by Anne Forbes. I read this series about 2-3 times and I really wish I owned the series because I would love to read it again!
Your videos are always so magical. Watching this video while adding more titles to my MG TBR list is somehow very relaxing to me...never mind that I don't need to be adding more to me list. 🤭 Tuck Everlasting was one of my favs. MG too! 🥰 I did a reread back in Feb.
My wishlist is growing out of control, ive added a few books again. Thnx for the recommendations. Sweep, the language of spells and howls moving castle are added. Just because you told me so 🤣🤣🤣
I am currently reading willa of the wood and it is AMAZING! I am super excited to read the second. I am almost done the first and once I’m done my mom is going to read it/Josie age 8
I cannot recommend Pages and Co. enough. I think you would love it. One of my favorites. I discovered Neil Gaiman’s middle grade through your channel and just love it.
I'm always afraid to watch a video of yours because I always add a few books to my never ending tbr pile 😂🧡 I love that edition of Howl's Moving Castle! I've that book saved since a while in my cart now even though I already have another beautiful edition. A pinch of magic sounds great and the cover is stunning 🥰
The Thief Lord is perfect for this list! I'm assuming you haven't read it because its not on here (or maybe you forgot idk) but it's one of my favourites and it's so magical and whimsical
I am obsessed with your middle grade recommendations! I look no further than your channel. Do you have similar book to recommend if I ve enjoyed Nevermoor (best ever) ? Also just started The girl who drank the moon - finger crossed:) Do you recommend or have any thoughts about David Baddiel, David Walliams or Cressida Cowell? You made me recall all feelings while reading middle grade books - so sincere and pure hearted.
Can always trust Lexi giving me new middlegrade recommendations. You should try Diana Wynne Jones' other books. You will love her Chrestomanci series, Lexi! It is just as magical and whimsical as your other suggestions 🥰
The graveyard book and Nevermoor are all time favorites of mine! You got me onto Sophie Anderson last year and I can’t wait to read Castle of Tangled Magic! Also love the fairy aesthetic 🧚♂️
i’m really new to the middle grade genre so there’s very few recommendations i can give that i’m not sure if you have on your radar or have already read 😅 i am currently reading the “greystone secrets” series by margaret peterson haddix and it’s been an absolute delight so far. from the middle grade books i have read, those that revolve around siblings and explore them as a family are my favorite aspects in the genre and that’s what you see here with this series. space and time play a significant role as well and so that kinda leads to the whole whimsical vibe that i’m sure you can love, but that barely covers a lot of secrets that these three siblings uncover as the series goes on so maybe that could be something 💛
LEXI LEXI LEXI!! OMG, Thursdays are officially my favorite day of the week!! FOr middle grade you should try out james pontie's: Framed series!!, it's so good. Love you!!💖💖👍🏾
Have you read anything by Astrid Lindgren? She was a Swedish author. Maybe you've seen the Pippi Longstocking movie, she's based on her books. But there are also The Lionheart Brothers and the Children of Noisy Village. I remember they were charming, lovely middle grade stories!
Have you read the Chronicles of Ancient Darkness (the Wolf Brother series) yet? If so, you should definitely check it out!! It has quickly become one of my favorites ☺️
omg Willa of Dark Hollow reminds me of my all time fav Studio Ghibli Movie, "Arietty". It's on Netflix PLEASE do watch!! Also I ordered Nevermoor after watching you recommend it so much over the year I have been watching your vidoes. Ps: you are my absolute fav booktuber ❤️❤️❤️
Great video Lexi!! Loved all the recommendations!❤️I suggest you read The Dollmaker of Krakow though I have still not read it😅 but it’s historical fiction.
I need to get a start into reading middle grade because it's a genre I never reach for but I want to try something new as 2021 has not been a good start but I want my reading to get better 🥰🥰🥰🥰
The first part that you told The willa of the wood Where willa take things that people wont notice its missing it kinda remind me of ariety its a studio gibli film from japan wherein arriety is a small people and they are called barrowers But the willa of the wood have lots of twist so yeah i wanna read that book
If you love dragons I would recommend a series that I loved when I was a middle grader called the Enchanted Forest Series by Patricia C. Wrede. First book is Dealing with Dragons and is about a princess who is headstrong and adventurous and runs away from her kingdom to live with dragons.
Soo happy to see u back again talking abt all the middle grade😘 All the recommendations and the video was awesome😄😄 Can u recommend me a ya with little to no romance element in it..😁(specially mystery if possible) Love from India my frnd💜💜
I love all of these recommendations! Honestly whenever you give recommendations it feels like ur giving me gifts😢Also, have you ever read Finding Serendpitity, I got a little confused and accidentally skipped the first book in the series, but the other two were really really good and I think you would really love them. Hey Grace Cox, who's the author of Magic Mirror? 😁 Sounds great
The author of 8 Princesses and a Magic Mirror is Natasha Farrant. The book also has the most amazing illustrations by Lydia Corry.
