i'm a little late but one of my all time favorite book series is a middle grade, and that's the Keeper of the Lost Cities by Shannon Messenger. it's about a girl named Sophie who discovers that she isn't human, but an elf, and she is taken to the the world with the elves and has to learn how to live among them. but it turns out that Sophie is different from the other elves, she is has very valuable memories and powers that some people are willing to anything for.

I read middle grade books all the time and I am 80 years old. These books are fun and clean and so enjoyable. I am reading all the Penderwick books, and they are a hoot! I just finished all the James Ponti books.
I absolutly love middle grade and always feel like people don't give the genre the importance it deserves. I have read better written middle grades than adult books. Thanks for showing the love and doing some recs!!!
ugh I love that bow 😍 honestly I've been in such a middle grade mood lately, I think sometime soon I'm going to try to spend an entire day at the library and read as much middle grade as I can 💕
Nevermoor is my favourite series ever, even though it’s not finished lol Do you have any recommendations for people who love Nevermoor? Not necessarily middle grade, but books that have the same kind of … I dunno …vibe?
My 6th grade class is reading The Westing Game now, and for differentiation, this is a tough one I would recommend for above-level readers as themes and literary devices are more difficult for on- or below-level students to pick out and analyse. That said, it is very interesting and keeps my students engaged.
i love this vid, without it I wouldn’t have found “Some kind of happiness”. It’s the first book for kids I’ve ever read that is about a girl with depression. I just love the book, oh my gawd. I also love the time stamps, this video was amazing!

I so enjoy your middle grade reccomendations, some I read myself but most of the time I look for reccomendations for my kids. You typically reccomend pretty big long books for middle grade though... my oldest is a reader and loves them, but my middle daughter is not a huge fan of reading but she does LOVE quick reads if it's a subject that catches her attention. Anyways..... I would LOVE LOVE LOVE to see you do a whole video if middle grade reccomendations that are quick reads and maybe under 250pgs. There is definitely a group of kids that maybe aren't (yet) big readers or strong readers and these big books intimidate them.
You can see so clearly that this is your passion and your heart and soul shines through. Beautifully explained and incredible recommendations from the best authority on middle grade books. I love reading middle grade myself, but this will also be a video that I will return to when I become an elementary school teacher, so thank you so much for this. 💖
I absolutely love your recommendations all the time! I am so excited to add the majority of these to my tbr and even more excited to introduce these to my kids once they are older!!

Secondly, not only the content, but I do enjoy the way that you share information. Always funny and so warm. Congratulations on your work!
As a writer, I love your enthusiasm! I have been writing a quirky witchy middle grade novel for over 15 years (on and off), in the same vein as the Nevermoor series. I'm hoping there's a market for it and that I can self-pub (otherwise I will be hunting down agents for possibly another 15!).
Thanks so much Lexi! How awesome to a youtuber who is all about books! Yay! Just shared this with my class to spark some book recommendations from them on our Google Classroom. We are Year 8 in New Zealand, the kids are 11 & 12 years old. We're currently reading The Tomo by Mary-Anne Scott. Based in NZ about a boy who is sent to work on a farm while his dad has Chemo, his dad's dog comes with him, but falls down a Tomo (deep natural cave hole). I read it over my summer and loved it so much I'm now reading ti aloud to my class. Can't wait to see what books they recommend.
Just bought and read Hollowpox:The Hunt For Morrigan Crow, which is the third book in the Nevermoor series. No surprise, it was amazing! This is the first time I've given a book series five stars three times in a row!
I just ordered the Girl Who Drank the Moon, it's been popping up on my end for a while. I've been binging your videos and am thinking of taking a small break from fantasy and getting into middle grade. 😍 also, I prefer the book Coraline too over the movie. ☺ can't wait for more videos from you.
Lexi! I just found your channel and you’re a lot of fun! I’m 6 months in to writing my first novel, a middle grade fiction. Thank you for all your recommendations, energy, & insights.
