Great video again, thank you. A really nice piece of diagnostic work and a very thorough repair job. Most mechanics would have just replaced the MAF sensor, and when that did not work, they would have replaced the EGR. When i saw the video title i thought this was the terrible EcoDiesel engine. I see this van is just a rebadged Fiat. I wonder if your scan tool would have worked better had you told it that this was a Ducato van?
AWESOME Approach and thought process most of who they call them self technicians will through part at it till they fixed/part changers and rip customers left and right thanks for sharing job will done. cheeeeers from Ontario, Canada.
Great video. Is that amount of carbon buildup normal? Would the glow plug code stop DPF regen and lead to increased carbon buildup? Is it something that once it gets bad enough that the EGR valve begins to stick open the carbon buildup accelerates? Does the affected throttle body then also increase carbon buildup? I'm trying to understand the (perhaps cascading) processes/issues that lead to that level of carbon. Thanks!
@sluggo7 Thanks, Yes Exactly the glow plug code would prevent the DPF From Regening, that's what happend on this one, when the carbon build up gets high, it causes the EGR Valve to stick and the Throttle body also!!
15 diesel, Have soot in coolant, p0269 code and p0272. Trying to disconn turbo to see if it stops high pressure in degas to hopefully determine if egr or head gasket issue. No white smoke or steam from tailpipe.
I will love to watch more videos about the sprinter 2.1 I have 2 and I do have a lot of miles and the dealership is so pricey and they don’t fix it . They just wanted me to buy another 😂
Paycheck well deserved. Why is there so much carbon build up in 106K miles though. Can this problem be avoided by buying certain diesel fuel from certain gas stations. I have 2 sprinter 3500's. My mechanic says. Always buy from Shell. Any thoughts on that?
@jimmyj5557 Putting low sulfur fuel in the van helps but this is mainly because the EGR Tube is before the DPF not after, a lot of manufacturers are putting the EGR tube after the DPF to avoid these kind of issues!!

@Nick-bp7jf Thank you! I'm not sure if the scanner was gonna work better if I identified the vehicle as a Ducato van, I will try it next time!

I also understand that the glow plug was the main cause of the stuck EGR valve with most unburned diesel combustion
@jamesgichuhi2174 Not necessarily!
great video as always.thank you my brother
