does it really matter in the end if he uses his pointer finger a lot? wpm, efficiency, etc. i just don’t see what the big deal is if he does it differently than most do (even if it was part of computer class). if he can still type, then all’s good. keep doing what you do, man.
People like to preach about how their home row typing style is the only acceptable method but will only push 60 wpm on a test lol. And at the end of the day most work on a computer doesn't require efficient or even fast typing.

I get 114 wpm using mostly my index finger, it’s not that impressive although many people say that I’m just capping lmao. I also use my ring finger for shift. My pinky doesn’t have very good mobility

Bro I can type 110wpm with 4 fingers and I literally relearned how to type with all fingers. The saying is true "dont fix it if it aint broke" but its nice to have nice things when you can use them the right way. So far, the best decision.
