Thanks for posting this. I had a roof leak a few weeks back and one of the guys from the company that installed my roof years ago came out and found 3 of these in the location of the leak. He sealed them up and it's been fine since then. I'd never heard the term "nail pop" before, so I wanted to get a better look to help identify any in the future.
I would remove the popped nail, seal the hole, install new nail 1" to the left or right. Install a bead of sealer under shingle. Any exterior sealant would work. I like using Quad OSI clear color from Home Depot. For the "zippering", same sealant would work. You dont need a lot, a small penny size for zippering would do. Hope this helps.
They are denting my 2 year old galvalume roof do you think it will fuse through galvalume.I know.it will cause the galvalume to prematurely fail Thanks
Nail pops are pretty easily repaired. Nail needs to get removed, new nail installed flat flush with roof and run a bead of sealer between shingles. Not much science to it. Let me know if there’s anything else. -Roc
Glad you told us how to fix it. Brilliant.
yeah, my bad... :(

It shouldn’t, takes a lot of pressure to Pierce through a 24 gauge metal roof.
How do you fix a nail pop? How do you fix one that hasn’t gone thru the shingle and one that has pierced thru the shingle?
We remove the nail, seal the nail hole and install new nail 1” to left or right.
We also seal the shingle back down with NP1, two dabs will do.
I am getting my 15 year old roof repaired for nail pops. What advice would you give as to make sure the work is done properly?

What causes the nail pops? and how to prevent them when initially installing the shingles?
Cause depends, but it's usually due to delaminated decking, thin decking, and improper attic ventilation.
Can you see how easy these cheap shingles come apart. Yep you get what you pay for
