The Mighty J Geils band. Tore the house down everywhere they played. What a team of musicians.
Yeah, they did! Couldn't put it any better. I tell everyone about 'em.
The greatest rock and blues and party band of all time
Thanks for the Wicked Pissah memories. ❤

Back in the 70s was unreal..this show just shows how great they still are . BOSTON GARDEN you see them one time a month Al.pal
Hard driving blues. A hard driven band for many years. RIP Jerome. Nothing like a j geils concert.if you ever saw them and didn't move and participate. You were dead.
was behind magic dick on stage when they played at boston garden with the drummers kid on my lap after getting free tix and free backstage passes and had a beer with magic dick what a legendary band unreal show i'll never 4get it RIP JG
His actual name was John, but Peter referred to him as Jerome......May he RIP in any case.
I wish I could have attended one of their concerts at Cobo Hall.
@@michaelsordillo390 Yep, I think Pete just tossed that out the 1 time.... ❤️ May he Play in Peace
One of the greatest live bands ever, caught in their swan song tour. I got to see them in Bangor one last time on this tour. They just don't make them like this anymore...
Best live band!!! Lots of good times listening to this music back in the 70’s and they sound great today!!! Way to go bad boys from Boston!!!
Sorry to disagree Bob Seger live bullet!

R.I.P. Mr. J. Geils. Your band will live on for ever. Why in the hell are they not in the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame? POLITICS BS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I have been following him for 50 years. Saw him at the Cabot Theater on New Years Eve. Amazing
Never saw them. My loss. J Geils is our loss. Thanks man.
Still kickin' ass and taking names! J. Geils RIP.
I saw The J Geils Band with Bob Seger in 1980. The World Series of Rock, Cleveland Stadium. Def Lepard, Eddie Money, J Geils and Bob Seger. Killer show.
Best live show I ever saw.
what a great band
Wait, this guy (Peter Wolf) is 68 here... ?Amazing ! God Bless these guys!
Rockin' blues, been a hometown favorite since high school.
The old Boston Garden, the Paradise Theater, the Casino Ballroom on Hampton Beach NH, the Frolics on Salisbury Beach MA, Cape Cod Coliseum, Providence Civic Center.
I remember 15 years old in the late sixties they had special concert trains out of North Station behind the old Garden, we'd fill those train cars and get them rocking from side to side rolling across the Lynn marsh. The conductor would come in screaming because the engineer had slow the train lol.
Kids being kids, could have done worse things.
Those were the days . Boston born n bred 🥳 !!!
One of my favorite bands, saw the at the Greek Theatre in Los Angeles, I play their music often to practice my harmonica. Yea man! Digging it here on vacation in Ensenada. Baja California de Norte de Mexico Summer 2021
The very first concert I attended, I was like 17, maybe even 16, Cobo Hall Detroit. I saw them many times afterwards, absolutely the best live show on the planet. I just turned 60 yrs old and
Ive seen more bands live than I can remember. And they still stand the test of time as the greatest live show Ive ever seen.
Was there, 1st concert in Detroit. Coming from Toronto, we were in concert culture Shock!!
I got to see them atleast twice in the early 80's & wished that I had seen them in the 70's but wow, what an awesome fun band to see live. A good time is guaranteed for all !
J. Geils Band forever 🥳
✌️
saw these guys 13 or 14 times, great showband,Peter Wolf, amazing frontman,Concert 10,Poconos,Spectrum in between Slade and Humble Pie and so many other shows
Slade...there's a throwback...did a bunch of their songs early 70s......Live Full House was a seminal album for me...taught me how to play harp really.
Listen to magic dick
Saw them at the Cobo Arena in Detroit. They played four encores. Then the lights came on. Nobody left. 10 minutes of noise from 13,000 rabid Motown Geils fans. They came back out with the lights on and played two songs, Peter Wolf said the band ain’t leaving till they turn the lights off again. They turned off the lights again and played two more songs. 12 songs worth encores! Some bands barely play 12 all together! That was the love between Geils and Detroit. Glad I was part of it over ten times. In 84 the sold out Pine Knob, 15,000 outdoor venue 6 or maybe 7 nights in a row.
saw them in 1979 or 80, in nyc unbelievable show they put on, and saw them many times after, what a party great live show's
I was there. Love them both. HAD to do it!
My very first big concert was in the early 70's at the Forum in Los Angeles - opening band was YES, followed by the J.Geils Band and then headliner Ten Years After. Though each band was great, the J. Geils Band blew the other two off the stage. What a night that was!
I seen these guys back up Humble Pie at the Eastown in Detroit in 1971. Then seen them numerous times after. I thought they were from Detroit for the longest time. I know they sure loved to play there:) Peace
Jimiplayscobo I’m from Boston, the J Geils band made it clear that they had two homes Detroit and Boston :-) those were the cities to love them more than anybody :-)
@@kevinsbott Yea Detroit sure do love them it seemed like they played every other weekend back in the day. Take care :-)
Magic Dick is the reason I have every key in Harmonicas. When I was young, I used to play whammer Jammer. But I cannot do much now thanks to years of smoking them damn cigs.. Best live band ever. Hell the best band ever. WHY ARE THEY NOT IN THE ROCK AND ROLL HALL OF FAME? love Mr. Peter Wolf. He made sure you were not sitting down but up boogying your ass off. Best front man ever.
Harmonica player has the best nickname in the history of nicknames.
you should see it ,,, john holmes has nothing on the magic man .. like wow
us girls know omg
Was like 15 first time I saw J Giels at the Coliseum. Loudest, roudiest kickass band ever! Saw Mr Wolf at Fenway, and Payomet recently. Still rocking! Wonder why MD isn't around? Best blues harmonicist. Peter still rocks and moves the crowd. J Giels, what a great guitarist! Concerts were louder than the 8 track at full volume! Thank you for the inspiration. Think I'll pick up my guitar tonight. Love your music. Best Boston band ever. TY!
Nah,Aerosmith is better.
They should be in hall of fame.
I saw them in 1981 when they and George Thorogood opened up for the Rolling Stones in San Diego. Three great bands, what a show.
I saw them open for Framton, who do you think I went to see?, and who do you think got blown off the stage
what i grew up on - r.i.p.
Saw them in '74. What a great live band. Peter must've dances for about 90 minutes straight. If there was an opening band I don't remember them. Mr Geils was a completely underated guitar player.
Peter and Bryan Ferry are the only ones that can wear shiny suits and be Uber cool.
I LOVE the sound of Tom Areys drums!
Full house album on lp will never be forgotten, still have it just nothing to play it on.
Geiles is no douht the greatest show you will ever see..I'm going back to the 70s they still can jam.. greatest consert you will ever see .like allot of bands this one you will never forget..hard drive.n man..AL.PAL
Really happy to find this ! Still have all the hey day Geils on lp; to this day cant find ladies invited on cd. But never saw them live. Closest was JG & MD at Tramps nyc early 90s. Also saw Albert Collins, who coincidentally wrote SnoCone, at Tramps several times.
The Absolutely Most entertaining Band I've EVER seen 7 times Never a disappointment Back in the day they were called dance concerts and the tickets were on Average $7.00
Lucky to see them in the early 80’s. They tried to kill me. Exhausting. They wouldn’t let you rest.
they should be in the hall of fame
With all due respect to all who came before and after, MD is King of the Harp!
another wicked awesome sound outta Boston
Saw them 4 times. Nothing like them
what they should be remembered for is that they were a great rockin' Blues band, not that centerfold, love stinks crap..... RIP J.
Now you just said what I no..they were great back when we were young
Too right!
@@lousasso1432 I see what you are saying, it happens to many bands that go for success, for some it's a sell out, for some, hey, shit happens. But this video shows how good they still were. ( you know, play the old stuff ;)
Rocking blues band ok, but songs as Centerfold, Love Stinks, I do and Freeze frame are fantastic. Centerfold is da best song ever.
@@angelogloudemans9641 LOL, well, to each his own, party on Garth :v
BEST LIVE PARTY ALBUM ...HALL OF FAME ALL THE WAY..
Im exhausted just listening to them rock!
"Got me a Train Outta Texas, Took it up to Montreal" Yup..He and the band really did! Saw them here ?73? at Place des Nations (old Expo '67) Friend had one of those full head with actual ears mics and recorded the whole show..We just mostly listened..Unforgettable..
Outstanding!!!
Best live band ever!!!!!
No,Ozzie was better Live.
I was there! Didn't sit all night!
Saw J. Giels in Dillon Stadium in Hartford Ct. in the early 70’s. No better concert band ever
Wow,I'm 60 years old and I lived in Ct.all my life and never heard of Dillon stadium, whee in Hartford is that?
They had the Walls Shaking that Night!!!!!😂😮❤
You should all go see Peter Wolf & The Midnight Travelers!
Oh, yes!!!!
Never saw a bad J GEILS BAND show, and that is about 15 times
I love seeing them onstage again but the J Geils Band without J Geils seems a little strange.
Was j geils playing here?
Best live shows seen many studio to live sounds the same lot of big names don't sound the same live Best live show band!!
I saw them in Seattle at the Paramount Theater a couple of times. (I also saw them at the Kingdome as the first band for a 3 band night.) It was Peter Wolf's birthday and a bunch of people in the crowd had a big banner for him. Did you know he was married to Faye Dunaway the Hollywood star? Anyway they were one of the best live bands I ever saw though certainly not the biggest or best known either. Oh those were the days!!
2022🤗🎶🎶🎶🎶🎶🎶🎶🎶
for 70 year old dudes this is far better rocking out than those other 70 year old guys whose band name rhymes with "the rolling stones".
Because these guys are the quintessential bar band who made it big but never lost the raw energy of the early years.
The Ramones?
@@spiderreed350 🤣
REALLY MAGIC !!!
Music Heaven
South side baby!!
sad day but im havin afew pbrs and rembering all those times i saw these rock syracuse war mem cray cray
F'n Seth!! Outstanding!
I had many Geils LP's ! I'd get invited to house party's just to play Geils , we'd play warmer jammer at least 10-20 times ! When Joplin coined the PHRASE: FULL TILT BOOGIE WOOGIE, SHE WAS DREAMING OF GEILES AND MAGIC, AND WOLFE AND CREW !!!!!!
Kind of sad that the Seventies Era went by so fast sooo many just crashed n burned not so straight right on into the Eighties . Looking back now I for one could not fathom then in retrospect just how damned great those times were . For those who weren’t well ya just had to be there .
I seen this show. They played in Albany NY and only got 45 of stage time. I went to see them not Bob fat ass Seger. They upstaged Seger without tryin. I mean, about 1/3 of the Audience left after J.Geils Band were over. And, not because they were old. Peter Wolf was on point. Song to song. Nonstop. Always loved them from, eh, 1973. Saw them a few times. Great stuff.
Get over it,Turn the Page.
Justman also produced many albums for various artists, most notably Debbie Harry.
Who's the second guitarist in the back?
First instrumental is Snow Cone
Tom 's drums are the best!!
i agree 100%. What's his last name???. Great timekeeper and all the dynamics too.
How on earth do the Go Gos enter rock n roll Hall of Fame ahead of J.Giles band? The sign of a very wrong managment....
I was there and have the t-shirt to prove it! It was my divorce present from my uncle. I ended up making out with some chick because I got good and drunk. Seger was charging $13 bucks a beer. Thorogood is way cheaper at $5 bucks A beer
RIP :(
And DUKE! And Tom Arey! Just listen! The Midnight Travelers are the BEST!
get it on
The greatest live band I've ever seen, and I've seen them all since 1976. Still think that Wolf is the best frontman in Rock history.
love it
Magic is great!
Your Rocking with Uncle Bob Seger so Rock On
Duke Levine!! Tom arey!!
❤ about time someone mentioned the great Duke Levine, thank you 😊
What the hell does the rock of fame know ,jack shit ,add little feat to that list to
Great Drummer
It's 1966 in here!
I wish mine was magic.
John is dead, and Peter is still crazy
should be snocne - hard driving man. still rockin stong though.most under appeciated band ever.
get these guys in the HOF! for christ sake!
Then Hard Drivin Man OOOH Yea
Song is Sno Cone
Sno cone? That's a new one. :p
dnatz58 yes sno cone it rocks...hard drivin man has lyrics
is that jerry dale?
LOOK EVERYBODY!!!!!!!! It's Howard Stern!!!!!
VT_Dave
If you want to hear someone who really can play the harmonica check out the Mad Beach band. Florida stomp
anyone the the drummer's name?
A Boston band sounding like they're from the south side of Detroit. Kinda like Creedence Clearwater Revival sounding like they came out of the swamps of Louisiana. Strange bedfellows, ain't it?
Saw them in 82 at PINE KNOB MUSIC THEATER.
That concert produced the album SHOWTIME!.
I can point out my (late ☹️) friend J.J. screaming in the audience on it.
RINGO sez-✌️❤️
The Incomparable J Geils Band!!!!!!
that's not randy bachman?
WAMA JAMA DICKEY
