I was at this show. They broke up before I got a chance to see them live. When I heard they were getting back to together to open the HOB, I flew from California just to see it. I felt like I was at a classic JGB show from back in the day. Peter Wolf is the best front man of any rock band, ever. How did 17 people give this video a thumbs down?
They should’ve never opened their doors in the first place. Pretty stupid to have a Hall of Fame where everybody in it is already famous. A Hall of Fame is for statistics. Everybody in this Hall of Fame has the exact same statistics. They’ve all sold millions of records and have millions of fans worldwide. Their songs on the radio and in your music collection is their Hall of Fame. Rock ‘n’ roll stands against everything a Hall of Fame is about.
The fact that they didn't put J Geils Band in the HOF before he died, is a travesty. Yet they put rappers in. Sorry, but rap music IS NOT Rock and Roll. What in the hell is wrong with them?
The R&R HOF seems to have become a load of politically correct garbage. No Ted Nugent; no Grass Roots; no Association, but many rap/hip-hop, even disco trash.
Saw Geils at the Garden in like 79. Tall boys and a sliver flask of Crown flowing, and a packed fat vial of the best yeyo I have ever did. Best concert ever. Was absolute toast.
Being from Worcester, Ma., we'd see J. Geils live playing at every college, auditorium, and the old Boston Garden countless times. Went to 2 New Years Eve J. Geils concerts. Blow Your Face Out.
This band is one of the best live bands you will ever see it's just a shame that they are not in the rock and roll hall of fame they are hands down the best party band that ever made the seen when they came to town come on the best live bands j girls and Aerosmith from Boston come on j giels has been overlooked for hall of fame come on open your eyes 😮

you were not messed up enough if you can remember that....I can remember where I sat during taping of their first live album taping at the Cinderella...in the orchestra pit with the light show persons of which I was aqcuainted but they didn't let me help>>too high.
I'm turning 65 in March..J. Giles was in Tampa, FL. Down Town. Warmer Band 4 Humble Pie. It was my very first concert! Been in Love ever Since. Jay Moucha
I saw J Geils in February 1972 with Yes (on their Fragile tour). Stood in the first row, about two feet from the stage. One of the best concerts I ever attended!
The announcer is famous Boston DJ and Peter Wolf's good friend Charles Daniels - "The Master Blaster" who was partners with Peter on WBCN radio and named Peter Wolf "Woofa Goofa". He announced the Boston Tea Party shows. R.I.P to a Boston music cornerstone.
Saw Seth in a Peoples Express line in LAX around 87. I said Hey Seth Justman and he looked at me like I was crazy. He had his keyboard earrings on, so as he was walking by me it was just a knee jerk reaction that I recognized him. I had Full House as a kid and played the shit out of it. Remember those gigantic Peoples Express lines snaking through huge crows of people? Whats up Seth.
This isn't in an arena, but it's awesome!! Arena rock is usually worse. First, because the sound at the venue is bad, and second, because the band is usually unfocused, distracted, and sloppy. I don't hear any sloppy playing at this small venue!! 😊
Saw them with Kiss and Bob Seger and The Silver Bullet Band at Roosevelt Stadium in NJ some time in like '76(?). The whole show was amazing. I remember J. Geils absolutely kicked ass. Great concert. Young in the 70's. I don't know but, musically, we had it the best. Absolutely Love The J. Geils Band.
Blow your face out was played at every party we had back in the 70's. One of my favorite live albums of all time. This whole Band clicks on 20 cylinders! If this band doesn't get you moving around then I suggest listening to Barry Manilow. I still listen to Blow your face out.
Thanks for posting, we saw them several times back in the day. As said they were the highest energy LIVE act at the time. Sadly the studio releases didn't capture their live mojo.
thank God I am so blessed to have seen Jay geils quite a few times with the first time before full House came out was in 1972 in Puerto Rico at a festival called my soul and I they were amazing 3 months later full House came out told all my friends I was the 13 year old boy smoking hash

Nice!
Those 17...and the additional 17 now,to 34...don't matter. The J. Geils Band however, DOES and always will !!!!!!
Wish I was at this show. My hubby saw the 7 times! That still blows my mind! Love them. Part of my generation.
you got that right brother, forget old "saucer lips" Peter Wolf rules the stage
No idea. When I was front man for a band in ski season in Aspen I lost weight depending on the size of the stage. Yknow, running around room. !
The Rock and Roll hall of fame should just close its doors. The J. Geils Band omission is CRIMINAL.
But they have ABBA and George Michael!
Amen!!! Major influencers on tons of acts!! Speaking of the term ‘influencers’…………….PETER WOLFE IS AN INFLUENCER!!!
Absolutely agree with you!
I saw them twice in the 80’s . Amazing live show. I had a high school friend tell me you HAVE TO SEE THEM. I’m glad I did
Ya well just look what they consider rock nowdays heh. Thats like Animal Farm. The WOLF! Rox!

Unbelievable
Why. R & R Hall means nothing anymore.
Johnny Winter, Savoy Brown. SMH.
The One and Only J Geils Band, there will never be a band like them ever again.
J Geils Band for the R & R Hall of Fame. RIP J Geils.
The R&R HOF is totally over rated. We don't need them to know how good The J.Geils Band are.
I got to see them live 4 or 5 times. Best concerts ever!!

One of the greatest live acts in rock n roll history!!!Those bad boys from Boston!!Saw them in the 1970’s,80’s and 90’s,these guys always gave 200%❤
Saw them in Detroit many times, the greatest party band ever!
I saw them in 1972 in Detroit (where recorded Full House) I never forget that kind of hurricane
The Grande Ballroom.
R.I.P. J. Geils. What a band you had!
Sad that "his" band sued to prevent him from performing solo under his own name.
I saw them live at Pine Knob Michigan in '82! They were KICK ASS! Thanks for posting this. Brings back good memories! 2009 and still kicking ass!
I was at that gig! Smokin'!
Saw them 5 times, once for free at KSU in '76
I was only 12 at that time, but I bought their new album in '83, and I should have made an effort to see them subsequently.
One of the TOP 10 GREATEST ROCK N ROCK BANDS OF ALL-TIME.
Make no mistake, this band would blow all these kids away these days.

I was fortunate enough to attend this show and it was SMOKING from top to bottom. RIP Jay. Peter was a bundle of energy ,as you can see.

I seen them with Montrose and UFO what a show J.Geils blew them away in the 70's
