I've dreamed about hydraulics on cable machines and know they've been around for ages now but it'd still be very interesting to an old cable/friction hand like myself. Having complete control of in and out, up and down on a wobble stick would take some getting used to but make a very smooth operation in the long run. I never liked to just jerk a clutch in but ease it in and keep the shock load to a minimum and also clutch wear to a minimum also. Hydraulics would take care of that totally. And a swing speed that would enable the operator to catch the load but casting would take a bit. Thanks, Ronan and CHEERS! And I've operated hitachi hoes and really like them.

In the past I often accompanied my father to work when I was little and then would I fit between the driver's seat and the rear window of the cab in this KH125. On the shelf for the cool box and lunch box. :) It's nice to be able to look back at these images. It is also quite normal here not to have a swing brake on a hydraulic machine or at least. The swing brake is missing on many machines at the company where this dragline used to belong. So if you operate the swing and you release the lever, the machine does not stop immediately due to the momentum that the mass already has.

@@cc_machinery Years ago I got snagged into loading and hauling out for a pond or dam. The hoe was a Leighbehr? with maybe a Deutz or somewhat running a ISO pattern and I was used to backhoe. It had a free swing and that was the only part I wasn't bothered by. The rest of the time the bucket was straight up in the air or straight down in the ground and I was laughing about how goofy I was. I can and have had to swap back and forth between patterns but it takes an hour to make the change automatic. Barely a one track mind. CHEERS!
