      Good question. Basically because most of the demos of this pedal were done with strats, so I wanted to do something different and show that you can get a pretty similar effect with buckers as well.

  • @owenRandolph718
    @owenRandolph718 2 года назад +4

    So it only sounds like that at really high volumes? Ts9 does same thing. The real wow factor would be to get that tone on say 3 or 4 out of a 15 watt amp with a celestion 25 watt greenback.

    • @LucasFowler
      @LucasFowler  2 года назад +1

      A Tubescreamer and this are fundamentally very different. Both great sounds, but they don't do the same thing.
      But most of the SRV tone is in the playing anyway, so if you play the licks right with big-boy strings, you'll get pretty close through anything.

    • @owenRandolph718
      @owenRandolph718 2 года назад

      @@LucasFowler my point is the volume level, not the strings. And yes Stevie did use a ts9 when no Texas twang existed. There must be a way to get that tone at lower volumes. Many of us have neighbors.

    • @LucasFowler
      @LucasFowler  2 года назад +2

      @@owenRandolph718 I got the sound out of a lower volume here. The amp is cranked up but it is running through a load box into my computer with an impulse response. I was hearing the guitar through my studio monitors. No neighbors would have been any the wiser.
      I agree, he did use a TS808, TS9 and TS10.
      SRV didn't use a "Texan Twang" but he did use treble boosters. And this pedal is not just based off a treble booster, it is a reproduction of a treble booster by Caesar Diaz, the Texas Ranger. Caesar maintained and modified many of Stevie's amps and pedals, and also built him several original designs.
      If you want the SRV sound, first and foremost you have to play like him and use the big strings. You do also need to play "loud". You can *actually* play "loud" or you can attenuate your output like I've done. Or you can use one of the many great amp modeling solutions that are available today that allow you to play modeled "loud" amps.

      Well we’ll mr @lucasfowler great explanation! That s first review they really talk about the loss of low end , the high mode is heavy low end cutted
      Even through a Blues Junior light Griddy it s to less low end.
      Big amp full up that pedal is for that scenario

  • @yadakc
    @yadakc 3 года назад

    Hey Lucas, long time since I've sent a comment, been busy, and ill off and on that does sound great but if you took a Strat, and put a set of Lindy Fralin's singles, with the description," I want the output of SRVs pups, and tell him what covers you want, you will never get closer to SRV than those Fralins. I have Vintage Hots in my Tpm Rodriguez Strat, and his Steel pile 43's in my Thinline Tele, and they are p90s that drop right into Tele single coil Routs, but at 8.5k neck, and 10.5k bridge, they're designed to sound exactly like p90s!!! Until you turn the volume down to about 7, then they sound like classic 50's Tele pups. They amaze me every time ai plug it in! It's the most versatile guitar I own Give the girls a kiss from Keith in RVA, Peace!! 🤘😎🎸✌️
    PS: I can get them for a discount I won't say it here, but I'll tell you on your Messenger page!!!

    This pedal won me over, first 40 seconds,
    *THEN,* totally lost me @ ; 1:37 ''in front of an
    amp already turned... all the way up...'' lol, most
    of us with tube amps can get SRV with our
    amps dimed, the idea is to get that sound without
    having to always be at concert levels.
    Playing like SRV has nothing to do with the amp
    and neck pup tone, we can all get it with our amps
    dimed as I already mentioned, SRV like Johnny Winter,
    Hendrix, Duane Allman, Dickey Bets, all had the over
    all sound and when using the neck pup on a strat ,
    all had the same overall sound, not style of playing,
    sound' , tone. They all had their amps on 8 +,
    just like any of us can do, but don't always want
    to peal paint off the walls, due to neighbors, family
    etc.

    • @LucasFowler
      @LucasFowler  2 года назад

      Playing like SRV will go the longest way on that of course, but in my experience there is no way to sound like his rig without turning stuff up. Attenuators can help a lot, which I'm using here, but part of his sound is just the volume of air he's moving.
      This isn't really a pedal to make any amp sound like Stevie, it's more of a replica of an actual piece of kit he used.
