Ed was at his wedding but too embarrassed to admit to it on camera.
Listen to the podcast.
There's no such thing as "there's no money left" for governments that control their own currency.
You can borrow, you can print, you can tax. Yes, each option has implications and consequences, but they are all possible in times of economic downturn.
Government budgets are not the same as household budgets.
Osbourne either knows this and is cruel, or incredibly ignorant and incompetent.
Right, and Osborne did all of those, which involve hard choices. The point was clearly that there was a big deficit that needed to be reduced.
Also, by 2010, the economy was growing again and inflation was rising, so there was little room for printing money much more than was done through QE.
@@Myndir The thing that the Conservatives would have never done, which would have helped, would have been to tax wealth and not income. Instead of taxing working people more and cutting public spending for people that need public services, the Conservatives could have taxed the billions of 1%, but the Conservatives won't do that because they are conservatives. They are ideologically against taxing the wealthy.
Problem is we are constantly doing all those options even when it isn't an economic downturn
Where did you get your Economics degree from?
He just doesn't get it , you could see it in Suzanne's face !
I will answer that question Susanna. The reason they put politics to the side and started a coalition is because they saw an opportunity to make MONEY 💷 by podcasting (it worked for Rory Stewart and Alistair Campbell 😅)
There's nothing wrong with making money and producing podcasts.
Balls and Osborne , you would get more sense out of Sooty And Sweep
George said money cannot come from billionaires but working people. Why no follow-up questions on this
No money left because red and blue tories stole it all
No. No money left at the end of a Labour time in govt.
@@marjoriesherrington2772Tories have stolen/wasted over 600 Billion pounds of tax payers money in just over 3 years ya 🤡..
Both English party's are self serving trash
Who stole it?
@@michaelmccomb2594 both party's over decades
@@michaelmccomb2594 where is the over 600 billion stolen/wasted by your masters in corruptminster in just over 3 years..
That's mine and others hard earned tax money
This is the best name to end 2023 with 😂
Podcast is very good.
What a horrendous segment. Austerity was a killer (literally) - and he’s so nonchalant about it
Well said Suzanne. They have no shame
Gideon's got a bloody nerve.
How about we start telling politicians that their pay rises are not sustainable or cost effective!
Always hitting the poor and nothing has changed in 13-years with cost of living.
Kind of a pointless interview. The first 8 minutes is just the same thing over and over....
'Do you regret the choices you made as chancellor?'
'No I don't because i think they were necessarily.....'
George Osborne saying it's not gonna come from the billionaire oligarchs. It's gonna come from working people. That in itself is a political decision that he has chosen to make. As a conservative, he was never going to tax wealthy people. He taxed working people.
You should be ashamed of yourself Ed !! Sorry mate I think you talked with a forked tongue!!!!
Oh God help us. Two of the most inept politicians of recent times.
Poor old ed as always been a closet tory
Osborne's austerity did absolutely nothing for the deficit as it went up every year then and since, utterly outrageous to claim it as a success.
That is not true. The deficit was reduced. Austerity worked in respect to its stated goals, but I wouldn't say it was a good thing for all the social harm that came with it.
@@stephenseagull5740 As I understood it, it went up by £555 billion during his time in office so I'm not sure who is right on this one.
@@hyperbiped9913 I don't know where you get that figure from, but the deficit was definitely reduced:
www.ons.gov.uk/economy/governmentpublicsectorandtaxes/publicspending/bulletins/ukgovernmentdebtanddeficitforeurostatmaast/september2021#government-deficit
@@hyperbiped9913 The deficit went down relative to what would have happened without Osborne's cuts, but there still wasn't a lot of austerity, especially not before the economy was growing again in 2013-2016. In practice, Osborne ended up being pretty similar to what Alistair Darling, Ed Balls, and Labour were planning to do, though neither side wants to admit this fact.
@@Myndir You think! :)
God it makes you want to throw up
He thinks he can hide but the British people will never forget and he will answer for his actions. Why is Rishi being asked these questions when David and George ruined our country.
Middle class crooks in suits
this man's policies hammered the most vulnerable in society and he doesn't care it seems
‘I’m not saying we got everything right’ he says nonchalantly. They have no shame. They are criminals.
Susanna is very naive.
Proud of serving his rich donors and his masters
Osbourne is evil.
Bitter political divide? What a joke. All part of the same pantomime.
I’d listen to it just to hear Ed strangle George
Except Ed is more liable to French kiss him.
They were never that different if they were actually honest about it. Pair of later middle aged ex politicians living off their past 'non glories'. Just taking advantage of the whole people know who we are but we can speak openly about it now!
Podcasts for Centrists Dads!
Er... you what?
Everything has gotten worse for the lowest paid since tories took over. Why does he keep lying
He looks like he is off that white stuff look at the eyes what a snake
Suzanne believes in magic money trees
you were so great the country voted brexit out of desperation thinking it would get them some kind relief! 40 billion wasted on a useless app and 13 years of 0.00 growth.
انت ركزت على توظيف الناس ولم تركز على الموارد المحدود للبلد التي تعيش فيها
Why can’t it come from billionaire oligarchs?
Just seen him in action on a BA flight seems to think he is a VIP what a plonker .
Sociopath
Oh christ
One club literally
just coming Alistair Campbell and Rory steward, might give it a listen but will probably not be able to stand George
Ed Balls should be ashamed of himself
Boring Boring Boring
Osborne is heartless and loathsome, like so many politicians.
