There's no such thing as "there's no money left" for governments that control their own currency. You can borrow, you can print, you can tax. Yes, each option has implications and consequences, but they are all possible in times of economic downturn. Government budgets are not the same as household budgets. Osbourne either knows this and is cruel, or incredibly ignorant and incompetent.
Right, and Osborne did all of those, which involve hard choices. The point was clearly that there was a big deficit that needed to be reduced. Also, by 2010, the economy was growing again and inflation was rising, so there was little room for printing money much more than was done through QE.
@@Myndir The thing that the Conservatives would have never done, which would have helped, would have been to tax wealth and not income. Instead of taxing working people more and cutting public spending for people that need public services, the Conservatives could have taxed the billions of 1%, but the Conservatives won't do that because they are conservatives. They are ideologically against taxing the wealthy.
