      @@dillon10b14 @@dillon10b14 The first one I got, the scales were scratched up and the action felt like sand paper. Sent it back for a replacement (wild about sporting goods responded right away and the turnaround was less than a week), and the second one's been great so far. The action broke in fairly quickly so now it's *almost* drop shut, and I put a new edge on it so it's super slicey. And everyone I've shown it to says it looks dope. Overall I'm very happy with it, it sees a lot of pocket time. My only real complaint is I wish the blade was not cerakoated, I think a satin or stone wash finish would look awesome with the grey scales. Ah well. Maybe I'll switch out the blade down the road.

    I have had this on preorder since January. It will be my second (got the g10 20cv) Bugout and in all likelihood, the last one I'll need. For years I've done a pretty good job at talking myself out of buying a knife from Benchmade. I finally couldn't do it any longer and ordered this Bugout today.

      That’s awesome. Please let me know what you think when you get it.

    • @Nothingtoya
      @Nothingtoya 2 года назад +1

      @@DirkWerning I was excited when it finally showed up, I pulled it out of the box and went to flick open the blade, I couldn't. So I tried to pull back on the lock, It wouldn't budge. Turns out, whomever put the knife together, tightened the pivot screw as tight as they possibly could. It took a half turn just to get it to barley open, another half turn to get it so I could flick the blade out.
      The QC issues have always kept me from buying their knives. Here we go, the first knife I bought from Benchmade has a QC issue. So now I have to worry if I just ruined the warranty of this $250 knife. Other than the pivot, it's a really nice knife, the aluminum scales feel better than I thought they would and I do like the Axis lock. However, this will probably be my last Benchmade for a while. There's some Spyderco knives I'd prefer to buy first.

    • @DirkWerning
      @DirkWerning  2 года назад +1

      @@Nothingtoya sorry to hear that.maybe reach out to them and see if they might replace it or something. Sucks when the first experience is bad.

    • @Nothingtoya
      @Nothingtoya 2 года назад +1

      @@DirkWerning My problem with sending it back in over this, someone will adjust the pivot haphazardly and it'll again be too tight or too loose. I can get it to the point were there's no blade play and the action is still nice. Plus the edge is so wildly different from one side to the other, I'm probably going to send it off to someone else to sharpen it properly.
      I do find this to be a bit sad. You really hope to get a better product from an American company, yet the QC on my Kizer knifes kick this things a$$. Hell, even my $60 Buck 110 and a NOS Buck 500 showed up in awesome shape compared to this. The only other knife company that I own and consider to have comparable QC to Benchmade is Civivi.

    Just picked this up at REI today. 5% off and with my dividend discount I basically got it for free. It sliced the shit out of my finger when I was handling it which is funny cuz I’ve hardly ever cut myself with my EDCs. I guess the knife chose me and I decided to buy. Much better than rough grivory handles of the original that tend to shred my pockets. A solid winner and the jewel of my collection.

    Newbie here. Any advice would be very helpful. Comparing to the 535-3 Carbon. (Love the Blue) The brand new 535BK-4 has a better blade. Too much knife for a rookie wanting quality? Am I missing the target entirely and should be looking at the 535BK-2? Sometimes I cut corners and have regret. Also, I go big and it becomes ridiculous. Ultimately, I am wanting a good looking knife, quality, EDC for daily stuff. Dad stuff, house stuff, not beating on stuff. Thank You. Have a great day.

    im deciding between this, or going on benchmades custom feature, and getting one with titanium scales. it would be a $100 more, and a wait time, but I could get it. in m4, 20cv, or s90v. I love m390, but I kinda wish they wouldn't have dlc'd the blade. I love what Benchmade has been doing with their "satin" blades, they almost look like a tumbled stonewash. bencmade does a great job with their aluminum, looks really good, and lately, they seem to be doing a better job on their qc. I finally got my mini Adamas, that's been on order since April, and out of the box it was dead center, no blade play, and after a few flips, it became smooth and drop shut. looks like you got the same thing with this.

    Awesome video Dirk. Forsure my favorite reviewer on here. I've always liked the bugout because of it's simplistic look and usefulness. It's why I didn't hesitate to buy it when the OG Blue one came out. It was the first decent/quality knife I purchased, usually would just buy budget knives or crappy beaters where you'd never know what kind of steel it had. I would have to say I have been very much pleased with it , But this version you just showed is a hell of a lot better than the OG. Keep up the great work G. Have a good one.

    Just got my new aluminum Bugout. Love the overall vibe, but Benchmade quality control is atrocious when it comes to blade bevel consistency. One side is pretty consistent; the other side looks like a kid sharpened it on the belt. Huge fat bevel from belly to tip. Just embarrassing aethetics for that price. Shameful.

      Mine came the same way plus the pivot screw was as tight as they could get it, without stripping something. To have QC issues like this at this price point is ridiculous.

      That’s unfortunate

    At one point, I was sick of hearing about the freaking Bigot! LOL, but I guess I've mellowed on it & this version I might actually own or if I modded one with the copper scales. I like the red accents & aluminum scale design. But there are more knives I'd like to have before this. Thanks Buddy! ⚔️👍🏻

    This knife is beautiful ... my issues is with the reputation of failure with the Omega springs... for this reason I'm probably going to opt for a Spyderco Manix 2 in G10

      The Manix2 is also a great choice. I don’t let the spring issue bother me at all. Not had one break on me yet although yes they can and do break. But are also easily replaceable so.
