    My teacher taught me to use clear drinking straws to control the placement of arial roots. Slice open only one side of straw so you can put the root in.

    Aerial roots can be craftet from young ficus plants fixed on the branches of the bighest tree. Sorry for my bad english and thank you for all your great videos.

    Very interesting. I have a question. I have a 1 foot tall Tiger Bark Ficus tree that has long branches with leaves only on the tips. If I were to cut these branches shorter would they grow leaves on the bare spots below the cut branches? My concern would be that the tree might suffer from having no leaves and having to regrow them where there previously were no leaves. Would it bud out on the bare spots? Thanks

    • @WorldofBonsai
      @WorldofBonsai  2 года назад

      I had the same problem. First the tree has to recover and get a lots of leaves. Then you can cut back by little steps. You will get lots of buds one by one.

      @@WorldofBonsai Ok Thanks. I have had this tree for 2 years and it came that way from the nursery. Last year in the fall time I cut the tips of the tree and removed half of the foliage. I tried ramification on it the best I could. It's now producing small side branches but at a slow rate. I think I need to get it In a humid location to help it out like yours did in this video. I don't have a Glass aquarium though.

    Did extreme moisture cause rot or fungus growth inside the tank? If yes, how did you deal with it? If no, how did you avoid it?

    • @WorldofBonsai
      @WorldofBonsai  2 года назад +1

      I just use destilled water and no fertilizer. Best for cuttings is anyway mineral substrate or grow substrate.

    Ciao. Bellissimo video. Ho alcune domande:
    -non hai problemi di muffe a tenere le piante negli acquari?
    - come riesci a mantenere un’umidità del 90%? Solo bagnando abbondantemente.
    - che tipo di led uso per mantenere la luce corretta?
    Grazie infinite per l’aiuto.

    so it was at 90% humidity that the air roots started to form. and as soon as you moved them out of the glass tanks the air roots that were not long enough to touch the soil died back. very neat demonstration. love the re use of old fish tanks. kind of sad i sold my 75 gallon tank now haha

      Hi Mike, after placing them in the garden during the summer i put them again into the tanks 2 weeks ago. The airroots are splitting and growing already very good

    just keep any ficus tree with pot in shallow water in such a way that, the soil is always wet, for one or two months, you can see any ficus tree will shoot out aerial roots...
