He speaks an entire paragraph of perfect English, then he suddenly requests an interpreter for the next simple, very simple sentence.
When he is talking about something personal, like family, he speaks directly to you in English. To provide the emotion and connection. "This is my father."
When he is doing the business of politics, he uses an interpreter. There is a strategic benefit to that. It's a dominance and control strategy and way to negotiate or communicate with authority and dominance. He is also testing his staff. Loyalty.

@Wally#01 He started a full scale invasion coz they left him no choice. You don't go to a man's neighborhood and install missiles next door. By the looks of it, you either have no idea of how the world works or you're just too desperate to be part of a trend that you'd ignore all logic. Putin didn't just wake up one morning and decided that he was going to invade Ukraine. He was begging the international community, asking for their attention to the aggressive NATO expansion towards their doorstep, regardless of countless agreements and assurances. All US/NATO had to do was assure him that Ukraine won't become part of NATO and none of this would have happened but guess what they did? Nothing. Not a damn thing coz they wanted to provoke a war and they used the Ukrainians as bait, like a lamb to a slaughter. They knew that if they pushed eniough buttons, Putin would have to, he'd have to. Now you might ask why he had to? Then go read about Monroe doctrine before you come back here to post your next comment and hopefully, you'd find all the answers.
