Full credit to you Ryan for taking on the maiden of a notoriusly tempermental airframe (mustang) on a day with more wind than most would dare to even attempt to fly one👍i love these 1500mm birds with 6s power, my FMS P47 gives me about 9 minutes mixed flying on a 6s 4000 so I would almost expect similar from this-IF You can resist the temptation to "Fly it like you stole it" because this thing sounds awesome when you open her up! I don't have too many Eflite Aircraft in my hangar and I must admit when I heard about this one last week I am guilty for thinking "another Mustang oh okay" But that's before I saw your video and discovered it has 6S power!! Extra credit is due for you leaving your less than perfect Take off and landing in the video, most of these reviewers would have you believe they never have a bad take off all landing which as we know is statistically impossible especially on a day where are you have a 90° cross wind-it's also a refreshing change to see you flying something other than an EDF jet Which is something I think has featured a lot over the last 12 months with most people (Obviously there has been the odd high wing Aircraft in there). Not sure I am a fan of the clip on wings, Horizon hobby notorious for not selling critical spares on their own and making you buy an entire fuselage or wing panel just to get a small plastic part that is ever so critical to the function of the aircraft-in theory it's a nice idea I guess the proof of the pudding will be if they decide to sell replacement parts for the guys who end up breaking those clips repeatedly taking the wingtips off. 10/10 for a great video buddy👍
You can tell a guy is into his new plane before he has even flown it when he says almost unconrollably as he begins to taxi around 'oh my god, oh my god, oh my GOD...' What a fun video and cool plane! Awesome
Man that is one sweet plane! I actually just started flying rc planes a few weeks ago. I bought a 70$ mini mustang with the 6 axis gyro. And I gotta say I am loving it!!! So naturally I bought a better and bigger plane. I actually just did the first test flight yesterday in 10-15 mph winds and I was very impressed. I bought the hobby zone aeroscout s rtf version. That plane is awesome for a rc plane noob like myself. I was spot landing it within 2 minutes of flying it.I actually took off the first time in advanced mode instead of beginner and had no problems. It is awesome now we can get amazing rc toys with all this new tech at a reasonable price.I AM HOOKED!!!
You followed the same pattern as myself. I now have twenty 400mm war planes and have just a couple of larger ones inc the AeroScout. Have this Mustang on order now. Been flying since 2021, so I see your comment was 4 years ago as I write this.
Man the look of this plane is epic. The features like the wings coming apart for travel and the smart ESC are what this hobby needs for sure. The P-51 is challenging plane for take offs and landings. I can fly the Carbon Cub , but this bird would require alot of Flight Sim time before I got the courage to take her down the run way. lol
Hey, way to figure out how to land that baby. I appreciate how your not afraid to show us the good, the bad, and the ugly. Your authentic bro, I know it’s not easy to leave the mistakes in the video, when they could easily be edited out. She looked a little tough, but you’ve definitely come along way just in this video.
Toy? How dare you! This is a precision machine! Regardless of how youthful smile it puts on my face, or how much child like giddiness one may feel, or the youthful joy felt. My good person a “toy” ? Wellllll......ok...BUT A BIG BOY/GIRL toy!!!!!!
@@PilotRyanMedia I am going to snag one up for sure!!! The outline and lines of the airframe look just about perfect to me. This is going to be one HOT model!!!! It really is a beautiful model.
Dude I just got my hands on this beauty!! I caught A crazy deal on it in the box I could not pass up. This video goes a long way, even if I don’t currently use spektrum. Thank you ✌🏽
Hi Ryan & Bobby K I am new to RC planes and as a recent semi retired guy in my 60s I have been looking for something to do that is fun and not too physical. I must say that the friendly and informative content of your video productions certainly have increased my affection and desire to be fully active in rc planes I have bought an e-flite Cherokee 1.3m as my 1st plane and a DX8 G2 transmitter plus S1100 charger. I plan to get the Habu Jet RTF package c/w the real flite trainer edition for birthday/Xmas 2020 as 6 of my top ten fancied rc planes are jets. My 3rd choice is the P-51D 1.5 Mustang for when I become accomplished, as a solo flier. I joined an rc club in my home city of Lancaster, England member. Keep making the vids and best wishes for enduring this pandemic John Soderberg Lancaster, England
Ryan, as I mentioned earlier great review, you do a superb job and it's because of you I bought my first 1450 FMS Red Tail Mustang, you're comprehensive in explaining the product and offer suggestions on how to flight for the best results, I have flown mine for almost five years, flying several times a day and several times a week, I take off in high rate then switch to low rate for flight and landing. I think if you could only afford one warbird, the P-51 is the ultimate. this new product offering addresses some of the improvements needed such as more power and better construction, I believe this will be a big winner for Horizon Hobby. Your reviews make you want one so bad you can taste it. Thanks for all you do :-)
Great video Ry, after flying my jets and neglecting my warbirds these past 2 years I know I’m going to be bouncing it as well, oh well, never stop learning, keep em coming brother
Ryan this is your co-pilot from Sunny California Michael Perkins, you and Bobby K are a couple of Awesome Guys you are a Expert Flyer I have the same plane it's awesome Oh my Word Keep it up I'll keep watching you two and I'll keep laughing take care Michael
For those who are watching this two years later I've learned to get a good grease Landing with the Mustang the 1.5 and 1.2 set your flaps to 25 30% and as your your wheels touch down flip flaps back up rolls on nice every time plus some softer tires would help
WOW. Ryan in all your past reviews this Old Man has never seen you this excited. I say you really love this bird. Great flying an awesome looking plane. Bobby as always the camera work really good. Love you guys. ✈😆💝
Hi Ryan. Great plane. Since I am trying to become a better pilot by watching your videos. Could you talk through some of your maneuvers like what are you doing to correct for cross wind landings. I’ve had some near and not so near crashes with cross wind gusts. Thank you.
Nice seeing you figuring out those landings. Wheel landings should be made with a little more speed. Looked like you were getting some speed from a steeper approach, however a flatter approach with some power will get you there too. A more stable approach like this may be easier. A quick down elevator as soon as the wheels touch will help stick it on to the ground. Good recoveries from the bounces. A transition to a 3 pointer is a must after bouncing a wheelie, very easy to get into a pilot induced oscillation.
Man, you are a trip. Lol. I like warbirds but if you were having landing trouble, I definitely am a long way from even putting this plane on my list of planes to get. I've not yet even left the ground yet, but I do like prop planes. I've told you in a comment of another video I have the F-18 hornet but am a long way from using that. I think my first lift off with an EDF is going to be the F-15 64mm or the Viper. I seen another video and the F-15 may be a little more durable. I've still got to get a trainer and I am debating on 2. One from Freewing or another from Eflite. I know my limits and I have no experience so right now I won't be getting something over $200. Crashing a $200 plane isn't a thing to me. Crashing isn't learning though, but is to be expected. I think my first EDF take off won't be for at least two seasons and that's if I feel comfortable piloting a plane period.
OK. I finally broke down and got one that is still in the box. Everything looks fine though. I have been practicing on the simulator since this is one of the planes listed. This model needs power in the landing approach. Unless it is just me getting use to it. Love the paint scheme though.
I absolutely love this plane but am having a tough time with getting her up and back down. I’ll try your high approach method and see how it works for me. Thanks for the vids. 👍🏻

Slow and sexy
Pilots flying Mustangs in air races do clip the wings to increase speed. Greater wing surface area increased range but reduce top speed.

You can use any 6s battery as long as the connector is ec5 or ic5, also make sure c rating is up to the task
Hi Ryan,
Where on the battery tray did you put your 5000. A subscriber from Florida :)
Hey Ryan .... I downloaded the spectrum file for this on my DX9 ... did you use that file or start from scratch?

its so beautiful man
What flying experience do you need before you can fly this ? I have p-51 but it's a mini.
Your not disconnecting those wings very easily after the strength it took to attach them!?🤔🤩
Looks like it flies great, a bit too handle so experience is key.
Don’t forget it was windy coming at us crosswind style

If I'm using low rates for aileron and elevator but think I'll need more rudder throw for takeoff I put the DR/Expo for rudder on a different switch.
That’s a great idea
