Fun fact! If i remember correctly, this is Hyatt's first Hyatt House they opened when the brand launched. From years ago when I worked for them, this property consistently had the lowest ratings out of all Hyatt House properties in the WORLD, which I found internally as we were able to see scores from other properties. It's incredible they've done very little to improve to fix it. This is comical!
Wow, interesting to hear that you worked for this company. What was that like? Glad to see you’re still around. Typically I only see your comments on old elevator videos so seeing you comment on something this recent was cool haha.
Thanks for the insider info; very cool. Not sure if you noticed, but this property got de-flagged a week after our stay. Based on what you said above, I’m surprised it took so long.
Very interesting. This hotel within the past few days has lost their Hyatt flag and is now listed as the CLT Sky Suites hotel. Most Hyatt House locations range from acceptable to very nice. Hyatt was wise to rip the Hyatt flag from this train wreck of a hotel.
After seeing your community post before this video, I did not expect it to be a Hyatt property of all places. It's no shock they lost their franchise considering how gross even the hallway was.
Yeah it was ridiculous. Dan also found a listing when this property was for sale years ago. Based on the description, it sounds like they were struggling for a while. Management really ran it into the ground.
You got to be not doing your job if your beautiful property turns into this dump. This is just awful! Did you guys receive any sort of refund or credits for this experience? No surprise this place lost their franchise for this. If this was me I would want my points back.
A hotel room with the A/C set all the way down is a red flag. They’re probably trying to cover up the stench of sewage soaked carpet. This place is beyond poor maintenance. This room has been abused over and over again. I do like the floorplan of the room though.
I was going to say that a place with the AC/heat turned off or down is peak cheapness because they don't want to pay to make the room comfortable until the guest arrives, but this is also a good theory.
@@22408aaron I agree that you don't want to walk into a 90 degree room either. Under normal circumstances, the thermostats should default to 76-78 degrees (during warm months). That'll keep the humidity down, and you can cool the room down pretty quickly, while the hotel can save a little money. About 12 years ago, I checked into a Hampton Inn in Chattanooga (Hilton has since dumped the property). It was an exterior entrance room, and the AC was at the lowest setting. It was freezing and musty at the same time. We turned the unit off and went to dinner. An hour later, the temperature had gone up to a more reasonable 70 degrees, but the walls were wet from excessive moisture in the room with condensation running down the walls. It was like a cool sauna in there. Something had flooded in there and they were trying to dry it out. The hotel was practically empty, so I assume it was the whole building, otherwise, why put us in that room? Fortunately, we were in the good graces of Hilton Honors, and the CSR at their 1-800 number arranged for our money to be refunded and they sent us to a Doubletree downtown with one complimentary night.
Not expected from a Hyatt property. But maybe it’s just Charlotte. We stayed at a higher-end Hilton in Charlotte a few years ago, and it was also disappointing.
I just checked rates on Google for two nights, 8/16 and 8/17, just out of curiosity. This hotel - no longer a Hyatt property, now called CLT Sky Suites - is $125/night. The Drury Inn and Suites a few miles away on Arrowood is $126/night. I think I'll spend the extra dollar, even if it means I also have to get an Uber to and from the airport.
Thought crossed my mind. They were sold out for the night and given the state of the property… any room they put us in probably would have been just as bad.
They worked hard to lose that Hyatt rating. Bummer because the layout of the suite is actually nice. They just needed to care about the place. Very sad.
Jacob? Dan? You're both braver than I am. Points or no points, I'd've just walked back to reception and handed them back my card keys, seeing such atrocities. Losing their franchise is one thing, but where's the random building inspections? They probably never existed; that building should have been condemned ages ago.
Condemned for what tho? Unclean yes but this is all really basic stuff that can be pretty easily fixed I wouldn’t stay there but cleaning can go a long way it’s not too far gone yet
I’m in charlotte often for business and most of the airport hotels have been ridden hard and put away wet. The airport is way over capacity and so is the local infrastructure.
Great video of a a pretty disgusting room. I don’t think the laminate floor is an installation problems. Looks like the dishwasher overflowed and the warm soapy water warped it. Should have been replaced when that happened. I love how there is no consistency to the number of items in the kitchen. One fork, two knives, three glasses and five bowls but don’t worry, there is a cheese grater.
I was sure the dishwasher was going to be loaded up with more stuff but nope, lol. Clearly they stopped doing inventory on their kitchen supplies long ago.
Its not a good sign when this place makes Inn At The Peachtrees look good.... What an absolute clusterfuck of a property. This is like 2 major violations from being condemned 😂. I love your commentary tho
Wow! This property could use a lot of help. Seeing that the elevators are undergoing modernization could be a sign of other various improvements to come, but only time will tell.
this place has definitely seen better days! i stayed at the Hyatt Crystal city in Arlington VA last month for a convention and it was not the best either! the elevators were busy yet slow!
When I saw that sectional couch and the, um... variety of, um... colours, one thing came to mind: it was used to film adult movies many times. If those cushions could talk!!!
don’t think so, Regency is a completely different world. I really don’t know why Hyatt is diluting their good brand name with these low level hotel brands, they should stay the eff out of this kind of hotels, or at least keep the name Hyatt out of it. IMO quite a mistake.
This Is The Worst Hotel Room Tour Jacob. These Bedsheets Are Disgusting & Holes And They Are Not Good For The Money. Hotel Staff & Housekeeper Needs To Do Some Chores And Clean The Hotel Room. I Wasn’t Expecting To Hyatt House Hotel In Charlotte But Compared To Great Wolf Lodge In Minneapolis Where I Was Staying For 2 Nights With My Mom & Double Decker Beds Are Clean.
Wow. Shame on whoever runs this place. And I use the term “runs” very loosely, because they are barely even doing that. I really would love to know what housekeeping DID do besides making the beds.
Disgusting hotel...I would slept in the rental car if no other options were available. No way would I stay in that hotel. Building should be condemned.
I'd give this nothing more than a 2-star review. It's amazing how a Hyatt could be this poorly maintained. Definitely the worst one I have ever seen. What's interesting is I can't find this place anywhere on TripAdvisor.
Honestly, I’m not surprised. I deal with a Hyatt Regency every year for a convention and they are such a pain to work with. Built recently too, but there is no sound proofing of any kind (and it’s right next to the light rail), the “bathroom” is a blast door you close to isolate the entry hall and sleeping area, and it’s just absurdly overpriced. Hyatt is no longer a brand I’d consider respectable.
im not saying I wouldn't stay there if that's all I had because there is way worse but this has too much wrong for me to say its acceptable. I looked this hotel up and the rate I saw as of 4-27-2024 its $149/night for the way this place is run that's outrageous! for a mid range chain brand this is absolutely unacceptable. I would want my $149 back if I saw this as a paying guest. I dont expect perfection but there's too much that they obviously dont care enough about. but like I said there is worse that I would absolutely 100% walk out the door for

Also, thank you for your extensive hotel reviews. Ever since I started watching your content, I've been wary of all hotels I stay at now.

Wow, scuzzy.. I remember staying at an old Amerisuites near CLT. It's now a Hyatt Place which is well kept.

I wasn't expecting a Hyatt to be this bad. I wonder how this compares to the Inn at the Peachtrees.
Man that looks horrendous. Worse than my experience with a Motel 6 eight months ago.

Was the housekeeping drunk or blind at this hotel? Maybe both.
I would have asked for another room that's unacceptable for hyatt

It may have been grimy but the fact that it has that anti-gravity feature makes it five stars in my book

I wonder if housekeeping just straight up forgot to clean the room. How else can a room be left like that?
Straight up forgot to clean it five times in a row...
Beds were made and towels were stocked. This is definitely what they consider to be clean and ready
That’s ridiculous

I’ve stayed at a couple of Hyatt’s in my life and none of them ever were this bad. This is just……WOW…
Looks like Google shows this as "Permanently Closed" now.
Looking on Google Maps, it seems like this property is very very recently no longer a Hyatt hotel.
I would have asked for my money back and switched hotels. For a Hyatt that is really bad when I pay for a Hyatt I expect better.
If only we could some how bring the beauty of Charlotte into this place, it would be so much better.
this place has definitely seen better days! i stayed at the Hyatt Crystal city in Arlington VA last month for a convention and it was not the best either! the elevators were busy yet slow!

I am guessing you have EXTENSIVE knowledge in that department.
Wow Jacob I almost didn't recognized you with the new look.
Great hotel reviews!!!!! We love them
Were you flying American Airlines since you are at CLT airport?
8:16 I think these are popcorn scraps that housekeeping forgot to throw away.
I was going to suggest ramen. Looks like the little bits of ramen that crack off the edges. Maybe they did some kitchen renovations with the ramen?
I think this hotel needs a new renovation.
This place made the Inn at The Peach-trees look good…and that’s damn scary
This is one interesting place lol, great video though and glad to see Hyatt kicked the franchise!
Horrible stupid hotel! By the way if you see Dan in a hotel tour it is usually not a good thing
Didn’t expect a Hyatt brand to go downhill like this o_O
wasn't this the dover impulses that went like 6 stories?
