Hotel Review - Quality Inn St Louis Airport

  • Long story short: I live in St. Louis, but I spent a few months in Jefferson City this summer. During that time, my apartment was unavailable because of construction. Then, when it came time to catch a flight to New York ( • TRIP REPORT - United A... ), an airport hotel was a great option for the night before my flight. I picked this Quality Inn because it was the cheapest option that included parking for the week. The included hot breakfast was an excellent bonus. With a rate this low, all the hotel really had to do was hit the basics to impress me. Unfortunately, it still fell a bit short. Since I spent quite a few hours in the room, I ended up with a lot of footage--hence the highly detailed review. Hope you enjoy!

    I stayed 3 weeks ago on the one near Universal Studios on Kirkman road, and the hotel is pretty good for it's price. Breakfast is good, no much variety, but satisfying. Hot coffee from the morning to late night or until its over. The tv on the room was a cable, no hdmi, but reminded me of the 90's tv nostalgia so I liked it. I slept like a baby every night. The staff on the hotel were great, very welcoming. If you wanna save money and have a decent hotel room, this is it.

    I have been a Quality Inn, they are o.k., but not the worst either. I prefer La Qunita or Hampton Inn, never been disappointed.

    • @TheElevatorChannel
      @TheElevatorChannel  9 лет назад +2

      Problem with Quality Inns is that they're one of the Choice Hotels conversion brands (meaning that they're almost always repurposed from something else). They tend to be really inconsistent just for that reason. By contrast, Hampton Inns are always built specifically to be Hampton Inns.

      We had a Comfort Inn & Suites that was recently changed over to a La Quinta Inn just 5 minutes from our house. They updated the exterior before the switch. Stayed there a few years ago and it was very nice. It had an Otis Series 1 hydraulic elevator, not sure if it got modernized.

    The older Quality Inns rarely are quality. There are exceptions, so I always check Trip Advisor. But the newer Inns and Suites are usually pretty good. It really depends on what you expect. But working plumbing and basic cleanliness are expected.
    I do a quick check for bedbugs at even the swankiest hotels. It has nothing to do with cleanliness, and everything to do with prior guests.
    And I've found the Don't Leave Valuables in Your Car Notice at every Park and Fly hotel. Thieves know the cars will be abandon for days and so they come through often.

    9:00, a previous guest may have actually dragged the table from the dumpster or similar place because he wanted a table there. housekeeping didn't know any better and left it.I've done things like that on extended stays, along with a few pranks.

      That's really what drove me crazy. The whole place was ALMOST a good deal. A good manager could literally make this place great in less than a week with a really tiny budget. Though when I came back from the airport in the shuttle after my trip, the entire hotel was sold out. Looks like they aren't having any trouble selling rooms, so more power to them.

    Hi Elevator Channel. I have 3 comments to make.
    1. This is the first video of yours that I have seen. Actually, this is the first video I watched in its entirty. A 23 minute hotel video? I was intrigued. Very interesting video, I must say.
    2. Youcall yourself The Elevator Channel, yet you review a place with no elevator?! Irony, perhaps?
    3. Thnat table by the chair does serve a purpose, actually 2. The first is, if you're sitting on that chair and reading a book (remember those?), you have a place to put the book down if you need to. Second, that table fills the void between the bed and the chair. Granted, that 1st table was a little rickety, but I'm sure a little glue and maybe a couple of screw and some paint/varnish and that table could be rock solid. Of course, that should have been taken care of by the hotel, and not necessarily by the guest.

    I just stayed at this Quality Inn in Jan. 2020 Room 124 This Hotel Stopped Severing any type of Breakfast in April 2019 because they have an on site Restaurant . You Get NO DISCOUNT for Staying At The Hotel. This Hotel has NO ELEVATORS. Being Disabled this was an issue but the Nice front Desk Clerk Changed My Room to the 1st Floor. No Microwave in Room but there is one in the Lobby. The Water was Hot and there was Heat in the Room so I was Happy. I was lucky to get this room for $45.00 I would not pay more to stay at this Hotel

    Well that's uh....some hotel there lol! I remember a long time ago staying at a Quality inn and the showers being total crap.(The story with this one was that it was real dirty.) The room does look really nice, defiantly great for the price. Weird that they switched out your room though, I would have thought that they'd have just looked at the plumbing issue's. (It was even weird that they left early.) That lady probably got upset that she got double charged, it was good that you checked your bed though. Because, who knows it could have been the story all over again of the guy who found dry blood on the mattress at Motel 6. But overall uhh.....weird hotel!
    Grade=C+(I guess, I don't even know.)

    • @TheElevatorChannel
      @TheElevatorChannel  9 лет назад +2

      Yeah, I ended up 3-starring it on TripAdvisor (just realized that I forgot to link the review--working on that now). My experience is that the Choice Hotels brands that are intended for conversions of existing properties (Rodeway Inn, Econolodge, Quality Inn, and Clarion) tend to be all over the place in terms of quality. I try to avoid them unless the reviews look great (not very common) or they're a really good deal (like this place). Sometimes the more run-down properties make for the most fun reviews since I actually get something to criticize.

    • @TheElevatorChannel
      @TheElevatorChannel  9 лет назад +1

      ***** Oh yeah. Expensive does not = good. I've stayed in higher-end places that I could have bashed a lot more than this place. I always try to balance my reviews with how much $ I paid for the room. A place like a Days Inn or a Quality Inn like this one really just needs to be well-kept and clean to earn a good review from me. Check out my review of the Shangri-La condo complex in Puerto Vallarta if you want an example of a place that I could not criticize... at all. Absolutely amazing.

      +MGIII Dry blood is nothing. How would like to find a condom (not sure if it was used or not, but it doesn't matter) in between the mattress and box spring? Almost 30 years ago, my frined headed to Los Angeles to try to get on Card Sharks. He asked if I wanted to go. I said yes and off we go to Tinseltown. Well, since we didn't have lots of money, we got a motel on Hollywood Blvd. with a single bed. My friend said we could take off the matress and one of us could sleep on the matress and the other (meaning yours truly) could sleep on the box spring. We take off the mattress and WHAT THEudie magazine and said condom. YUCK!!!!

    I stayed at a Quality Inn once for an event because there was no other choice in that small town. I'm very picky when it comes to hotels/motels, and I was very disappointed. Hallways and stairway reeked of cigarette smoke and something else disgusting that made me cover my nose. Blanket on bed had several stains, room needed dusted. Tv remote so overused you couldn't read the numbers on it and tv was confusing to work. Will not stay at one again.

    This looks a tad nicer than the Quality Inn I stayed at in Alabama. This QI was really old and downright creepy. The building had this musty, smoky smell that I just couldn't handle. The bed was uncomfortable and there was this red light in the room that wouldn't turn off and made it difficult to sleep.
    That wasn't even the worst part. The hotel didn't have an elevator! What kind of crackhead builds a hotel and doesn't put a single elevator in it?
    I left that hotel at five or six in the AM and went right across the street to the Holliday Inn which was way nicer.
    People say first impressions last a lifetime so after that experience I'm very reluctant to stay at a QI again.
    Like I said this is definitely a cut above that Alabama hotel but it's a budget hotel so you can't set your expectations too high.
