- We tried to bake and decorate Christmas gingerbread cookies and it didn't go as I had planned 🤪

THE RECIPE:
for the dough:
Butter - 115g
Powdered sugar - 30g
1 egg
Honey - 150g (I'd add just a bit more next time)
Flour - 360g
Cocoa powder - 10g (I'd double)
Cinnamon - 1tsp (I'd double)
Dry ginger - 0.5tsp (I'd add just a bit more)
Baking soda - 0.5tsp
for the icing:
1 egg white
Powdered sugar - 200g
2-3 drops of lemon juice
Food coloring
What to do:
Mix butter at room temperature and powdered sugar well with a mixer in a big bowl. Add an egg and mix. Add honey and mix. Add spices and mix. Add baking soda and mix. In another bowl mix flour and cocoa. Add dry ingredients to liquid ones and mix. The dough will be quite thick so you'll need to knead it by hand at some point. Put it in the fridge for an hour. After an hour take the dough out, and roll it till it is about 1sm thick or less. Cut the cookies. Preheat the oven to 170C. Bake the cookies for about 8-12min depending on the thickness and your oven. Take them out when ready and let them cool.
For icing take 200g of powdered sugar, and egg white and mix well. Add a couple of drops of lemon juice. Icing should become quite thick. Put the icing in a pastry bag with the smallest tip and decorate your cookies. Leave to dry for 12 hours and enjoy!✨

Agatha eating everything possible, including plain butter, but spitting out the gingerbread at the end was too funny 😂 it reminded me of when I was litte and would beg my mom to lick the bowl when she was making desserts. Good times!
She doesn't like the frosting for some reason😂 on all the cookies in general, not only these ones. So she spitted out the piece of frosting with the candy🥲

I love when either you or Tolya have conversations with Agatha that you translate in captions because I'm teaching myself Russian and it's easier to pick out familiar words at a child's level. Lol
The comment about Agatha liking to eat butter reminds me of a memory from when I was around her age (and actually during Christmas time because I remember our tree all lit up as part of the memory). There was butter out on the table in the kitchen for some reason and I snuck into the room and scooped some up with my finger to sneak back to the other room to eat it. Silly childhood memories aside this video looked like such a fun family activity. Here is hoping Agatha may grow up remembering making gingerbread at Christmas with her parents (and maybe eating butter too).
Agatha is so smart. For a child her age she is pretty accomplished. I think it is because you do things with her a lot. You let her do more than just sit and watch.

Baking cookies as a family makes such great Memories. I have adorable polaroids of my husband cutting out cookies with our daughter, year After year. This year we invited another family with Kids, i made 1.5kg of dough and Just let them cut out cookies the whole afternoon. I took care of the baking, they kept producing. Just adorable. At the end we did a bit of decorating also. The recipe I chôses was pretty healthy (whole rye flour, honey...) And thus a bit heavy, but I wanted the Kids to be able to have nutrient dense cookies at breakfast or in their lunch boxes..plus, with a bit of star shaped sprinkles on top, they adored them
Your icing recipe is so different from my family's, it's interesting to see the difference in cultures even though it's the same food. I loved watching this video!!

This is so sweet, and brings back so many memories. When I was little my grandmother gave me my own small kitchen rolling pin too. Every time she made bread, she would give me a piece of dough to make my own bread and I would make all kinds of shapes. I felt very proud of my work. It turns out that in the end she made the same figures and exchanged them for my bread in the oven, because I used the dough almost like plastiline and at baking time, it was full of dirt 😆
Despite all the 'chaos' I could still follow the recipe and will try it myself! You have a warm and lively family, I love the way you all work together. 💗

We just had cookie making day which we do every year with mom, dad, grandma, 8 grandies, one married grandy and his wife. I, abiga grandma, only washed dishes and ate cookies. We made about 10 different kinds. We've been sharing them also. Blessings from Illinois, USA.

This is not a criticism - but just because you mentioned that they needed a stronger flavor - you could add Cloves and Nutmeg we do that in the US and also we don't add Honey or Cocoa instead we use Molasses - if you want a full recipe let me know! Just trying to help, again not criticizing. I love your channel!! Looks like you had a lot of fun and that's the most important thing!
