    • @boromirinokripperino3928
      @boromirinokripperino3928 5 лет назад +5

      That bumper sticker applies to Islam, but not Christianity. I am an atheist in the sense that I do not believe in the physical existence of a deity, however, religion does have an important social function. You can see this in the United States, which is the most religious of all Western developed nations, and the most prosperous. You can see that the Americans who are most religious are also most likely to vote Republican, as opposed to voting Democrat (voting democrat = death of America). There are many things about human beings which do not make sense until you take into account the evolutionary cognitive biases that took millions of years to evolve. Religion plays a big role in some of these biases, such as keeping communities and family units together, etc. Essentially, religion is good for maintaining good capitalist conservative values which have proven over and over again to lead to greater prosperity for the nations that embrace them.

Philosophy and science are some beautiful subjects that will help you open your eyes to the rational knowledge of humanity, the one that actually helps the civilisations progress and bring people closer while different religions tend to divide humanity and shut down argument and reason. And atheists have moral values, you don't have to be a believer of God to be invested in them. One of my personal values is to for example, treat people like how I would like them to treat me. Why did God rest on the 7th day after making the Universe and mankind? It's amazing to me that a God that is all knowing and all powerful would need to rest. He could probably use another rest now, after listening to prayer requests 24x7 for thousands of years.... but he's all knowing and all powerful... why would he need to rest? Isn't resting an activity that an earth dwelling being partakes in ?

The reason I believe in God is because I believe in the devil who will use peoples faith to decieve them and we need to keep the word in our hearts. What this means is that you should follow your gut your instincts your consciousness because this is where you will find peace. The Apocrypha is a set of writings that were "not good enough" to make it into the bible. You can see the historical details in Wikipedia topic "Hebrew Bible", etc.

      That's a very filtered remark. Religion came to be, not because, as you state, the desire to sensationalize natural phenomena. Nor was there a decision to forego rigorous study. Religion was developed when humanity didn't understand the complexity of life on earth, hadn't yet developed the scientific method, lived in constant fear of things they neither understood nor could control. It wasn't the plot of early conmen. It was the only way people had of understanding the world around them.

      @@RIXRADvidz very good point. You suggested the answer in your question: geography.
      In my opinion, a people that settles in a land that has reasonably mild weather, an abundance of natural resources, and are not competing for every mouthful or drop of water would have a much kinder understanding of the Divine than a people settled in the harsh landscape of the desert Middle East. I imagine, if I were an early Native American living, let's say, in the hills of North Carolina, where food and water is abundant, the climate is stable and non threatening, and there is enough space for everyone to have their own, I would develop a theology of peace, abundance, and harmony. If I were of ancient Middle Eastern origins, where water and food are not abundant, the heat kills, and seasonal torrential storms wash everything away, and quality land to farm was in short supply, my God would look a little more harsh and unforgiving.

      Just because you grew up in a semi-Catholic family doesn't mean that you are yourself a Catholic. The Nazis belived that they came from aliens that created all the races and the the Arian race was the best of them. It's part of Darwinisiom.
      As for Stalin, smae thing. Growing up in a X religion fmaily as a kid doesn't mean that you follow that religion. Presecuting the followers of that religion and outlawing it is as indication that you don't follow that religion.
      An exception to this is Islam where you are required to lie to the unbelivers such as pretending to be of another religion (including atheisiom) in order to further Islam. Sort of like the way Cenk Uger of TYT can claim that he is an atheist and yet push for anti-christian points under "you religous people" yet pro or at least tolerant Islamic points under "racist" (implying to your subconcuse brain that it's a race not a religion to those that don't actually stop and think about what he's actually saying).
      They're is no real way that he can be the way he is without leading this double life. He's way too radical and hate-tangent filled to explain it away as being a nutrail anti-religous overseer of these events in the news. He's always trying to push Christianity towards Islamic terror catagory and yet Islam into a race catagory.

      KingQwertzlbrmpf that´s not entirely true. He pursued many catholics nuns + priests (killed e.g. 16% of all polish priests). The Pope forbade members of the catholic church to join the NSDAP. Hitler hated the catholics, because they were likely to be more loyal to the Pope than to him.
      He got along with the protestant church quiet well. They supported him much more and even opressed those protestants that would stand against Hitler.
      He himself was not a practising catholic (where did You read that?) he was raised and baptised catholic, that´s all. He tried to invent some kind of new faith (called "positives Christentum") as a kind of substitute religion for the Germans, using christian symbols but worshipping the ideals of Hitler. The Nazis disliked the christian faith because they saw it as a jewish religion (in fact the roots are jewish).
      I myself am not religious, but I think it´s important for non religious people to find the religious elements in ideologies, just the way Mr. Maher did in this sequence. E.g. Neoliberalism and "consumptionism" has some religious elements too, watch some commercials and You will see. The trap is the idea that getting rid of god is the same thing than getting rid of religion.
