    Good job! I love it... so much that I ordered a fully-equipped red one in early December. Delivery to Western PA. No production order received yet. When might I get the thing? My last BMW was a 2018 X3 M40i which was terrific. Now that I'm in my 80s, I'm downsizing to the X2 M35i instead of moving to the X6 M which I really wanted. BTW, AARP/The Hartford will not insure M cars; Liberty Mutual will. The Hartford guy told me that older people shouldn't be driving such performance cars. I told him to go jump in the nearest lake... and more.

      @anudureio 5 месяцев назад +2

      it's a question of taste... personally I have the X1 and I'm very happy with it! the X2 is more of an "eye turner" because of it's coupé SUV line, but the X2 also divides people, personally I do not like the look of the back that hast lost BMW's character and is too chunky, as they say beauty is in the eye of the beholder, if you like classic go X1, if you prefer exotic with its ups and down go X2 :)

    Worst part is no i-Drive control knob. So you’re stuck being distracted with the touch screen while driving.

    • @AllenBMWDurham
      @AllenBMWDurham  5 месяцев назад

      I wish it had an iDrive controller but I don't think I interact with the screen that much while driving for it to be a problem and BMW is the only brand of car I've ever had where it wasn't full touch once touch screen became a thing so I think its fine

    • @ClubXXXPoison
      @ClubXXXPoison 5 месяцев назад

      @@AllenBMWDurhamSince BMW still includes the iDrive controller knob on more premium vehicles, this was clearly cost-cutting on the X1 and X2. Having to go through menus on a touchscreen while driving is just not a great idea.

    This car smells like cost-cutting. Not even a light in the glove compartment? Where is the ambient lighting in the rear doors?

    • @AllenBMWDurham
      @AllenBMWDurham  5 месяцев назад +2

      If you are looking for those, get the F39 X2, but if you are looking for newer tech, bigger space, the U10 X2 is the way to go

    • @lw2537
      @lw2537 5 месяцев назад

      @@AllenBMWDurham The problem is that BMW is cutting costs on the 'strange' elements. I am currently driving the 2020 2 GC. However, the 2023-2024 2 GC models also exhibit many cost-cutting measures, such as the absence of rear door ambient lighting and the omission of some premium interior elements. This trend is also noticeable in the new 5 Series. While I understand that electrification is expensive, these decisions appear rather cheap.

    We all know the former Pontiac's Aztek had _thee worst_ rear end of all time.
    On that scale, I find this rear end only slightly better. The major geometry is really unbalanced, abrupt, seemingly unfinished, as if it's trying too hard to be cool, like the Aztek. I understand the trade offs between form and function and how to blend them into a beautiful aesthetic; but I think this model just doesn't have it. I still won't buy one anyway, it's not available with a manual transmission.

    • @AllenBMWDurham
      @AllenBMWDurham  5 месяцев назад

      Thank you for watching! I like the design, I wish all the cars had a manual transmission but its simply no longer the case. In that respect this car was never designed for you, it was designed for people who like automatics, thinking about q3, glb, or perhaps even golf r if we are staying German. I wish we could go back and get an E46 or E92 N/A high revving engine with a manual but times have changed lol

    • @Bobcat9
      @Bobcat9 5 месяцев назад +1

      @@AllenBMWDurham I think it is false to say this car was designed for those who “prefer” automatics. Plenty of drivers who would prefer a manual, but are forced to compromise because of lack of availability of a manual. Why the lack? Because marketing forces at every company have decided _for us_ that an automatic is all we’re going to get, because having _any_ option cuts into profits too much. So, they sell us just one, and it’s the most expensive, hi tech transmission they can make that will certainly need more complicated service. This automatic is not the only trans because that’s what BMW thinks their customers prefer. It’s there because we’re only going to get one, and since it would cut into sales too much if they all are made manual; so they come all automatic. Costs less money to engineer and offer only 1 engine+trans platform, especially for a global car like this, which is fraternal twin’d with other models in different brands, like MINI Countryman.

    • @AllenBMWDurham
      @AllenBMWDurham  5 месяцев назад

      @Bobcat9 if we bought as many manuals in the past to give them the data that there is still an abundance of us who want it. It may still be an option but on a global scale the uptake of manuals is too low to warrant offering it as it will result in a loss.

    • @Bobcat9
      @Bobcat9 5 месяцев назад

      @@AllenBMWDurham So, like I said, they’ve decided that we don’t get an option anymore, they’re resigned to producing only one platform to max profits on this global platform, before meeting the preferences. BMW doesn’t care if a buyer prefers a manual, or prefers an automatic. Offering any option cuts into the bottom line now because the fallout has already occurred, thanks to marketing the more expensive automatic as superior, faster, and easier. The market wants push button everything now, lazy rich drivers demand nanny-tech and the perception of speed and superiority. Can’t offer that with a manual box anymore. The sheep have been sold on the automatic because it’s tenths of seconds faster on the track… the track most owners are never on, for all the races they never run. That’s why the manual has declined, not because of any “preference.”
      Making just one, more expensive, yet mechanically less reliable transmission, for world wide sale, makes more profit than that plus the added cost of engineering a second option, no matter what it is.
      For example, why isn’t the Honda Accord sold with AWD? Because they want you to buy the Acura TLX for it.
      Same can be said between Toyota Camry and its luxury twin Lexus.
      It’s got nothing to do with buyer preference. It has everything to do with what sells the most.
